It would take 715,828 Pokémon Home accounts to store all possible Spinda

    Posted: 26 Jul 2020 10:14 AM PDT

To be more precise, that's 715,827 accounts full of nothing but Spinda and an additional account with 705 extra spaces. To expand on this, a premium home account can store up to 6000 Pokémon, and there are 4,294,967,295 possible Spinda patterns.

Since a premium Pokémon Home account costs £14.39 a year, it would cost £86,340 a year to maintain all of these accounts. I don't recommend attempting this, not only for financial reasons, but also because it is unlikely that every possible Spinda has ever actually been encountered.

Original Ds games are ridiculous now! why?

    Posted: 26 Jul 2020 05:51 AM PDT

So I have been trying to get some ds games of gen 5 for nostalgia purposes and guess what? Black and White are $60 and and Black and White 2 are almost $100. What Gives?!?

Diamond and Pearl are still sort of cheap in terms of gen 4, but Heartgold, Soulsilver and Platinum are $80!

So why are these games going up in value all of a sudden?

Unpopular Opinion: I fucking love ultra beasts and I'm so mad GF basically ditched them

    Posted: 25 Jul 2020 11:19 PM PDT

I know most people shit in SM/USUM but I enjoyed it a lot, I would say USUM was easily the second best 3DS game after ORAS.

Anyway, the thing is I fucking love Aliens, Deoxys is by far one of my favorite mythical Pokémon, and Ultra Beast are basically the same, space/inter-dimensional entities, they look so weird, their worlds are so weird, their typing is so weird, everything about them is dope as fuck, I really wished we could se even more Ultra beast in the future, but I know they probablly gonna be forgotten just like any other cool feater from past games.

I finally completed my ULTRA living dex!

    Posted: 26 Jul 2020 01:52 AM PDT

    The album link is here

What I define the ULTRA living dex is a regular living dex, all alternate forms of every possible Pokemon. Be that permanent, battle only, move animation only, megas, gigas, and even all the gender differences! So yes, I have an Arceus and Silvally for each type, each of the 63 different alcremie swirl/sweet combinations, unown, and many many more. I also collect event pokemon, so I threw those in there, along with my shines, each of my "og starters" which have been the starter I chose for my main game each release from gen 3 onwards! And there last box is all the ones I continue using so I just put them in their own box.

This took me many many years, and a near full restart to complete! Shout-out to my buddy Charizard in slot one of the og starter box, he's been my pal for a very long time, my very first Pokemon!

Generation 9 should get the megaman 9 treatment.

    Posted: 26 Jul 2020 09:09 AM PDT

I've had this idea for a while, and with sword and shield being (in my opinion) one of the lowest points in the series, I think the next generation should go back to a 2d sprite based adventure.

If it is true that game freak isn't getting the funding and/or time to develop a truly great 3D title, I think this would be perfect. I've always felt the 2d sprites had a level of charm that was stripped away when the series went 3D, and having a title in this style on the switch would sucker in people with nostalgia (like they want anyways).

I have a lot more to say about this, it's all in my head, but I am awful at putting my ideas down into words. I'm sure I'm not the only one who's had this idea, and it will probably never happen, but man I wish it would.

A Funny way how I got banned from a Pokémon discord server

    Posted: 26 Jul 2020 08:23 AM PDT

I'm not going to say the name of the server. So I joined this server last year and I got banned for the most hilarious reason I've ever seen. I got banned by saying bulbasaur is better than charmander lol. Since it does better in gyms than charmander in kanto. I mean fire types are only really useful in kanto for erikas gym and viridain forest.

Soul Silver against Friend Rule Ideas

    Posted: 26 Jul 2020 05:36 AM PDT

Hey! So a friend of mine and me decided to play soul silver after years of not playing any pokemon. We decided that we want to make it some kind of competition and battle every so often. However we are not sure what kind of rules we should set for this. Because if we decide to battle after every gym than the one with more hours in the game will always win. And it is also difficult if we say we battle every 5 hours of game time because sometimes we don't see each other for a week or so.

Do you have any recommendations for this? Thanks a lot!

Shield thoughts by a Red player.

    Posted: 25 Jul 2020 06:48 PM PDT

    Hey lads and lasses.

I haven't played Pokémon in over 2 decades. As a birthday present I got the GameBoy Colour and Pokémon Red. I'm now in my thirties and as a birthday present I got the Switch and Pokémon Shield. I've had a decent 17 hours or so under my belt. Since then I've spent a little time on Pokémon related websites, including this one. I seen a few review type posts and I thought you may be interested in mine.

The TLDR is old person plays Pokémon and enjoys it somewhat.

Firstly getting over the Switch itself is quite something. It hooks up to the bloody telly, the screen is big, it's got that haptic whatever making the controllers shake. I use it and feel like a kid again. I asked (for my birthday because at heart, we are all children) for the Pokémon game. I was faintly aware it's still going and I wanted a piece of it. The nostalgia factor is there, with the now tiny cartridges to make one feel suitably old.

Right off the bat, being able to choose what you character looks like was a welcome development. Ignoring the fact I accidentally made my self a dude, no doubt I skimmed a step on my drunken birthday. But hey- the options where there and on the face of it distinguishing between young boys and butch dykes can be tricky. I plod on.

The companion Hop is a little over eager for my tastes, but I've put that down to a considerable age difference. He's young, from a small town, eager to get out in the world. Unblemished by the cynicism of age. As an old person most definitely blemished by age, and much else besides, I cannot hold this against him.

The new starter choices all seem suitably cute. I plump for Scorbunny. Fire is, and will always remain, cool. Anyway, out into this brave new world my fellow Pokémon and I venture. Excited to find out what is the same and what changes have been made.

One of the first changes I notice is you can kind of see the wild Pokémon. Giving you the choice of engaging, swapping your first choice Pokémon, or avoiding all together. In Red it was just a matter of blindly roaming in the grass until you hit an exclamation mark. But now being able to see, and plan accordingly, has been a welcome improvement. I can decide if I want to catch the bugger or give my little ones a workout until someone faints.

After a while (just before Gym Badge 2 – I'm a slow one) I noticed these match ups were consistently easy. I thought I was being cocky but the human battles were no harder. That's where I clocked shared Exp. I needed to Google it because I couldn't remember if it was an original feature. But as much as I appreciate it being there, I'd appreciate it more if it was a conscience choice I could have. I commute three hours a day. I have nothing better to do than rotate my smaller guys to build up their strength. Since I didn't noticed this straight away, I was playing the first 6 Pokémon I had and the rest packed off to boxes never to be seen again.

I have greatly enjoyed the Gym Leaders though. Sweet Milo to kick things off, that mad old bat Opal, everyone in between – I've all enjoyed. I've like the various missions to get to the big boss. It has been suitable development from playing 2/3 pf their aides in liner fashion until you hit Big Bad. What hasn't been challenging is the battles themselves. Because of this shared Exp lark I've always been a good few levels above whoever I've been playing without putting much work in. Perhaps I've lucked out with catching Pokémon that are good opposites to the leaders so far, but they've all been done in one or two moves. And with that lack of satisfaction come the lack of accomplishment.

Dynamax. I get what they are trying to do but I don't understand why they are trying to do it. Why is it only used for the last Pokémon in Gym Battles? You can't train for it, so can't prepare for it. Seeing it for the first time is very cool, but it very quickly loses its lustre and you question why the developers and art team spent (presumably) a decent amount of time on something that doesn't seem to matter.

I had great hopes for the wild area when I first ventured in. The Pokémon in the tall grass were my level, with the random big bollocks Pokémon strolling around the path, with 7-20 levels on me. It has a satisfying open world feel about it and you feel you can make decisions, rather than stuff happening to you like Red when you're in between towns. My main hope was I could continually return to the Wild Area and the Wild Pokémon levels stay consistent to my party, with stronger guys roaming about on paths to engage with if you wish. That does not seem to be the case. However, that is not to say I haven't benefited from this mismatch. I caught a level 7 Metapod with an Ultra Ball without battling.

All in all I enjoying this so far. Will I get the next edition when it comes out? Unlikely. It's not challenging enough for my tastes to keeping buying into the franchise. I don't see it competing with it's Mario/Zelda rivals, especially with hearing how they have embraced the latest tech. However, I am enjoying this as a trip down memory lane and I can see myself buying whatever one comes out in five years time.

    Temperature and light game?

    Posted: 26 Jul 2020 08:51 AM PDT

I saw a game forever ago that was kinda like Pokemon. It had a monster catching aspect but it would generate the monsters based on the lighting and temperature of the room this object was placed. The object for the game was pretty expensive but it used a mobile app to play it?

I'm not even sure if it still exists anymore but if some knows the name of it I'd greatly appreciate it. And if this is in the wrong place I would like to know where would be a good reddit to go. Thanks in advance!

I want to do a monotype run in white 2, what type should i use?

    Posted: 26 Jul 2020 07:15 AM PDT

I'm indecisive and can't Pick one for the life of me. Give me a suggestion and i'll see if i vibe with it.

Also i won't do types like ice or dragon since you cant get pokemon of those types until you're Halfway through the game and that's just too late in My opinion. Anything Else should be fine though. Thanks :)

Edit: i also recently did a mono bug run of shield so i don't really want to do that again.

Edit 2: i've picked, i'm doing a mono steel run.

Online and Offline Multiplayer Mode in future Pokémon games

    Posted: 26 Jul 2020 05:49 AM PDT

Pokémon games are missing a proper multiplayer mode that lets you play the campaign of a Pokémon game with another player. It would be really cool to play the same game alongside another person because both of you can share the experience together.

I think Pokémon should have an online and offline multiplayer mode that lets two or more people play the same game at the same time alongside each other. However, I know that this is wishful thinking and that I am extremely likely to have no impact whatsoever on what the developers of Pokémon will be making next.

November 1998— ‘Pokémon the first movie’ experience

    Posted: 26 Jul 2020 02:13 AM PDT

It was November, 1998. My birthday party consisted of 3 people: my mom, my best friend Ariel, & me. Ariel & I became best friends because during p.e we chilled under the slide in the shade playing Yellow version. We had the cable to link up our game boys & actually battle/trade. Both of our birthdays were in early November, which was when this movie came out.

Waiting in line at the box office was insane. Fans of Pokémon of all ages swarmed the theaters. All of us received holographic Mew cards & took our seats. We laughed, we cried, & we enjoyed ourselves to the fullest. This movie will forever fit in my nostalgia pocket. This truly was the epitome of happiness for me at 6 years old.

Guys, I'd love to know if you have any memories about this movie or any anime film that you watched in theaters during your childhood. Lmk! 🎥⚡️🙌🏼

Allow us to let our own Pokémon battle against each other! - What are some other game mechanics GameFreak should (but obviously won't) add in?

    Posted: 25 Jul 2020 01:01 PM PDT

So I was doing my second playthrough of Sword and Shield and I'm currently training a Riolu, whom as you all know needs to have high friendship to evolve! It got me thinking, that they should introduce a mechanic where we can have Pokemon battles with our own team members, like how Ash trains with his own Pokemon in the anime! They'll be a great way to test out moves and everything and it could allow each Pokemon to gain some small experience points. Especially in SwSh with the camping feature, it could be an extremely awesome Integration and new feature. you could obviously call out moves for each side and test out new strategies and everything!

What are your thoughts? What are some other new, doable mechanics that Pokémon should add in to the games?
