| Posted: 03 May 2020 07:07 AM PDT So back in 2010 after beating Pokemon White the first time I went back to explore Relic Castle. After wondering around for an hour I soon came to a room with pillars. I thought there was some item in the room until I spotted the sprite of a white bug with orange wings. The moment I saw it the pokemon instantly reminded me of Ho-oh and Lugia from Heartgold and Soulsilver. My 12 year old mind instantly thought this was a legendary and immediately tried to capture it. After multiple attempts I finally did it. For the longest time I thought this bug/fire was a legendary (its moveset would certainly suggest this) until I was proven otherwise when I got the egg for Larvesta. Still I wanted to share this and ask if there are any others who also believed Volcarona was a legendary when they first got it. [link] [comments] |

| Posted: 03 May 2020 07:05 AM PDT Have been resisting buying a Pokémon game since Ruby. Felt like it was a kids game, strictly playing console games for Xbox. Wife bought a switch lite during lockdown to keep herself busy. She's been crushing animal crossing, so I bought shield on a whim. As soon as that Gamefreak icon came on, it all came back. Posted: 02 May 2020 12:42 PM PDT I know if I bought a ticket to see a Pokemon battle between a gym leader and an up-and-coming league challenger, and it was just a single fire-type one-shotting two wimpy little grass-types before they even have a chance to do anything, with the whole thing being over in less than a minute, I'd demand my money back. | Posted: 02 May 2020 11:27 AM PDT There is an NPC in the D/P/Pt games that mentions you can get a certain "King of the Lake" in the Resort Area. It is an ironic title as it is a level 100, unevolvable, useless Magikarp. It is the most unique hunt I've had in Pokemon, ever, and I don't regret it one bit, as it is definitely the most hilarious Pokemon I've had! It has lower odds of appearing than a shiny in the game, as it is an encounter that happens once in 10000 encounters. [link] [comments] |

| Posted: 03 May 2020 01:58 AM PDT like everyone i was playing pokemon platinum back in 2009 back when nintendo wi-fi connection still exist, and literally right after that i decided to enter the wi-fi plaza, and i got lucky enough to enter the rare mew room, a chance so rare there isn't even a HD screenshot of it before NWC shuts down and no longer be accesible, and i was only 11 years old without even a cellphone at the time or a camera that goes 2mp. I do can describe what the hell was there, the mew room to everyones surprise is all mew themed, at the end where the parade usually plays, the mew floats does play mew's cry out loud, which was my first time actually hearing mew's cry in game. overall that playthrough of platinum was my luckiest game yet, even fished a feebas in there [link] [comments] |

I'll be doing all Kanto Starters today at the very least. I'm doing all these to see how the majority of fans view each starter. Bulbasaur is who got me into Pokemon. I saw him on the television screen one day and just thought he was the coolest thing ever. He was my favorite for years until Oshawott dethroned him, but it's still very close. Bulbasaur on his own is S tier. His evolutions are great, but Bulbasaur himself just scores that highly. Ivysaur is a very well done middle stage, and Venusaur looks like a giant horrifying monster. They really released the same movie twice with the only differences being the Pokemon in the scenes? There's no plot difference. What even was their thought process in doing this? I could not 'read' (I didn't know anything aside from the Pokemon and typing (I attribute this to my time to watching the anime and playing Pokemon Stadium). But I was able to beat the whole game on my own. I was able to catch the legendary birds and Mewtwo. The legendary birds even dodged pokeballs back then, but my five year old brain was able to say, oh hey if they are paralyzed, then they may not be able to dodge it. Lo and behold. My seven year old self was able to play up to Snorlax in Gold/Silver because I didn't know how to get the Pokeflute. Wasn't until I was eight that I realized I could use the Pokeradio. Nintendo forgets that their child marketed game used to be harder, and now those same people want games that were "as" difficult as they used to be because we felt good playing them [link] [comments] |
| I don’t like the idea of voice acting in my Pokémon games. Posted: 03 May 2020 10:26 AM PDT Now don't get me wrong voice acting in video games aren't bad, they are really good actually, but I don't like it in my fun RPG game with cute creatures that could start forest fires or could tear a crack through mountains upon mountains. I'm saying that Pokémon with voice acting is a bad idea for reasons personal to me and probably other people. I love to give the characters little voices, reading their dialogue, experiencing the story in my voice and if they add in voice acting, I might be, no I will be extremely salty since I cannot experience in games in how I experience it, but I know that people want voice acting in Pokémon so I have made a solution, a simple yet unbreakable method to let people experience Pokémon how they want to experience it, an option to turn on or off the voice acting. That's the best solution for people who want and don't want voice acting and make it be at the start of the game with 2 boxes that says no voice acting or voice acting, heck when you boot up the game I want to see that. To me voice acting in Pokémon should be in the anime or spin offs or commercials or...I don't know audio books or something. So yeah in conclusion I don't like voice acting in Pokémon and I would rather it be a option you can turn on or off at any time and if they do add voice acting and have a on or off button in the options, for me it's gonna be forever off. | Posted: 03 May 2020 11:28 AM PDT I feel like I'm not alone when I say that I miss Pokémon Colosseum and Pokémon XD. I miss the story, the memorable characters, the cool settings and the kick-ass soundtrack. These games were also taking a different approach to the traditional Pokémon formula, what with the lack of gyms and stealing Pokémon from other trainers. I don't think I've ever really gotten as much joy or excitement from the games since those two. I've recently replayed Colosseum and XD just to relive the glory days and see what they were like after all this time and they were even better than I remembered. The only thing I really regret when it came to these games, is not having a GameCube-Game Boy Advance Link Cable and GBA Pokémon game, as well as friends with those to play multiplayer with. I got two Poipoles from USUM, but forgot to evolve it before transferring from Bank to Home. I even taught it Dragon Pulse. I just never leveled it up. And now I have to play thru USUM AGAIN (I played all 4 Alola games back to back, so no thank you) in order to get another Poipole. This wouldn't bother me so much if there weren't so many cutscenes and forced dialogues. It makes me not want to go back, forced to stare at the "889/890" until they make Poipole available in SWSH (if that ever happens). It's heartbreaking. Someone please tell me it'll be alright. | Last minute old-gen Bank saves? Posted: 03 May 2020 05:54 AM PDT I realized I needed something badly from Black 2 and went through the Transporter/Bank process. That's when I noticed that my Bank expires in 16 days, and I'm not going to renew the subscription. With that in mind, what are some things I should be transferring from older games (Gens 5, 6, 7) and virtual console (Gens 1, 2) that I won't have access to in SwSh? Specifically, the thing I had to go to Black 2 to get was a Jolly non-Galarian Darumaka for Everstone breeding, and I know I made sure to have a HA Klinklang. | Awesome Idea for a Pokémon Game Posted: 03 May 2020 01:07 AM PDT Hello Reddit, I think I have an awesome idea for a new Pokemon Game. I know it'll never be made, but it's cool to share ideas! So basically it's just a standard game at first. New region to explore (hopefully based if Australia), beat gym leaders and get 8 badges, beat Elite 4, become Champ, etc except this time there are no regional bad guys. Post Game... professor Tree Man/Woman ( PTM/W) (perfect name I know) becomes interested in solving mysteries of different regions. PTM/W would like you to explore all the regions. In each region PTM/W will have you explore one or more places. I.E. PTM/W is interested in the mysteries behind the Desert Ruins and the Dragon Spiral Tower in Unova. Now battling all the gym leaders with your team from the new region is over kill. Your team could OH KO everything. Now the game could go one of two ways based of what your answer to the Prof is. The Prof will ask "While you are exploring the different regions for me, would you like to battle in their leagues?" If no then you will be able to explore the region, but won't be able to challenge any gyms. However the Champ of each region, by the end of your journey in "insert name of region here" will fight you. No title just a fight. If yes then PTM/W will "suggest" you leave all your "Insert name of new region here" Pokémon back at the or PC. Basically no bringing your team with you so you will have to make a new team to fight the league of the next region you are in. You will also meet the Prof of that region and will already be informed of your arrival and will be given a new starter. Now because of the lack of a villainous team in the main game, it is made up for by fighting team rocket. Team Rocket is on the move in 4 different regions. Each region they are in is being lead by a Team Rocket Admin. Each admin is in control of one region. Along your journey you will have to beat Team Rocket while fighting the league and exploring the area you are told to go. However Giovanni is still in Kanto and is a threat. After beating all four admins you will be told where Giovanni is in Kanto. So after you beat Giovanni you do the Kanto region. Go to Mt. Silver beat red, but while in Alola Blue is at the Battle Tree. A few post ramble of ideas: The regions you explore are randomized. One person playing will have a different order than someone else , but Kanto will always be last. The regions Team Rocket is in I would suggest Kanto, Johto, Hoenn ( but get assistance from either Maxie or Archie depending on which of the two you are playing), Unova (with help from old Team Plasma) and Kalos. I say Kanto and Johto because Team Rocket was there before, got stopped but now are back, Hoenn because Maxie and Archie stopped their plans after reviving Groudon/Kyogre and they want to help for the evil they did, Unova because I want to see Team Rocket vs. the newer Team Plasma while the older team plasma helps you take down the admin, Kalos because I still believe that we should've had post game Kalos in SWSH and Galar and Alola are too new. TL;DR. Finish lackluster main game then go to all regions before and beat Team Rocket, while fighting in their leagues.
