    I just realized something

    Posted: 12 Jul 2020 01:05 AM PDT

Poliwhirl can evolve into either Poliwrath or Politoed.

Look at Poliwrath and its pre-evolutions' feet: they don't have toes

And now look at Politoed: it has three toes on each foot

    It's poly toed

I know this is a low effort shitpost but I guess this just really surprised me

The story about a kid and his Arcanine.

    Posted: 12 Jul 2020 08:02 AM PDT

I've loved Pokémon since I was 9 years old. I would see other kids playing Pokémon and I would be a bit jealous because, due to living in poverty at the time ... I didn't have a game boy of my own. A few of my friends would be nice to me and let me catch a few Pokémon (where I caught a Growlithe on Route 7 and accidentally named it "GROW" instead of Growl.) However, the experience felt like it was lacking. When I turned 12 I had no idea that I would be receiving a Gameboy color with a copy of Pokémon Gold for Christmas.

This Christmas gift is still one of my favorite gifts of all time. I am now 30 and the Gameboy color is still in pristine condition except all the stickers have fallen off. Anyway back to the story.

I reacted in the way I can only describe as the "nintendo 64 kid." It was the happiest moment of my life and it almost didn't feel real. I actually held a Pokémon game that was mine! I could catch and train them as I please. I turned it on and picked chikorita as my starter, when I got to the point to where I could trade across time from red to gold... my friend decided, since I caught the Growlithe that I should be the one to have it. So he evolved at level 15 it and traded it to me. I trained this Pokemon with the most care. This Arcanine was the first Pokémon that I had ever trained to level 100. Caring for this Pokémon really helped me get through my awkward teenage years. Arcanine and I battled friends, beat Pokémon stadium 2 (except the little cup.) This Arcanine took 3 hydro pumps to the face, looked at the level 100 blastoise and said "is that all you got?!"

Arcanine and I were an undefeated team until we tried to face my friends Mewtwo. However we did have a lot of fun together.

When Gens 3 and up were released I began to play those more and more however I was really disappointed to know that I couldn't transfer Arcanine over, so I would pick up Pokémon Gold every now and then to battle with him, and look for new things to do.

One day I turned on the game and noticed there was only a "New Game." Displayed on the screen. The battery in the game had died, and therefore all of the Pokémon I had collected including Arcanine have also died. This Arcanine was 1 of a kind to me. Sure I have trained others, but this one was and always will be the strongest and the most Cherrished. I felt really beat up about it, a Pokémon that had helped me though my teenage years was just gone.

One day I was feeling Nostalgic and turned on Pokemon Stadium 2. Just to play around and battle a bit. When I saw it. Grow was sitting there in a few registered party slots. I jotted down his stats and made an exact copy of him to put into Heart Gold. Right now, he's sitting inside of my Pokémon ultra sun game. Sure it isn't the same as the original, however it sits there as a memory of the most favorite Pokémon I've ever had. He will forever be immortalized.

So here's a shout out to all of the great Pokémon lost due to a corrupted game or a depleted battery!

It's ok to not like Sw/Sh. But don't try to get other people to not enjoy the games. (Reposted because the original didn't have enough words.)

    Posted: 12 Jul 2020 06:05 AM PDT

Seriously, people are enjoying the games! Don't take that away from them just because you're pissed that Game Freak didn't cater to your exact demands. People can enjoy games even if you hate them. It's sad that people try to spread hate like this. If you hate the games, good for you. But just don't go telling people not to enjoy it because you didn't enjoy it. Alright, have I hit that stupid 50 word requirement now!?

Edit: To clear some stuff up, this also applies to harassing or insulting people who enjoy the games, even if you're not trying to get them to stop liking it.

So, taking leftover data into account, those would be the fully evolved species not usable in Sw/Sh after Armor and Crown.

Some of those species have new moves listed in HOME accounting for TM and TR compatibility, so there is a chance they may make it into the games eventually, but, those species aren't accounted for in the Expansion Pass.

Hi again, so someone who's name shall remain anonymous, informed me that a survey has been conducted about a year ago or so, i will still be conducting this survey since sword and sheild have released, we might have new redditors, and opinions can change, in other news, the least favorite spread sheet's info will be posted at a later date since everyone likes to here what everyone likes more than what people dont like. And this may sound like karma whoring, but in order to get better results and have them no be skewed by a smaller sample size, could y'all please upvote this post so more people can see it and i can collect more data

    Mapping Pokémon types to...zodiac symbols?

    Posted: 12 Jul 2020 10:21 AM PDT

I've gone through various one-person fads of naming my critters, always with a bit of mysticism. First tarot cards, then Shem ha-Mephorasch angels, now Ars Paulina angels. The trick with the last is that each corresponds to a particular hour of the day, and the conjuration requires knowing the current hour's associated zodiac sign and planet.

Essentially, I'm trying to handle the zodiac part through critter types.

The problem is figuring out what goes to what sign. The signs are divided variously by Greek element (fire, earth, air, water) and by quality—fixed/stable, cardinal/reactive, and mutable/adaptable. Long story short, this was my original stab at allocation:

    —Aries (cardinal fire): Fairy

    —Taurus (fixed earth): Rock

    —Gemini (mutable air): Psychic, Flying

—Cancer (cardinal water): Ghost, Poison (I tend to allocate soul and life-force to water)

—Leo (fixed fire): Fighting, Dragon (q.v. burning fighting spirit)

    —Virgo (mutable earth): Steel, Normal

    —Libra (cardinal air): Bug

    —Scorpio (fixed water): Ice

    —Sagittarius (mutable fire): Fire

    —Capricorn (cardinal earth): Ground, Grass

    —Aquarius (fixed air): Dark, Electric

    —Pisces (mutable water): Water

Basically curious how (and if) the rest of you might work with this.

On a side note, the Ars Paulina angels can be found here: http://www.esotericarchives.com/solomon/paulina.htm

what would the sinnoh remakes be called

    Posted: 12 Jul 2020 09:45 AM PDT

so red and green -> firered/leafgreen

    gold/silver -> heartgold/soulsilver

    ruby/sapphire -> omegaruby/alphasapphire

what do you think are some suitable names for diamond/pearl? e.g. adamant diamond/ lustrous pearl etc etc. the remakes' names seem to have correlation to the story of the game and since we don't know what they will add in the remakes this is just a fun speculation to pass some time

    The Case for Dynamax

    Posted: 12 Jul 2020 07:26 AM PDT

TLDR: I think dynamax is one of the better "battle gimmicks". It leads to more interesting decisions in battle because of both its offensive and defensive uses, it allows for in-battle improvisation and a level playing field since any pokemon on your team could dynamax, and the fact that it's not always an option during the story makes it feel much more special when it can be used.

I've seen a lot of people dislike Dynamaxing, and to an extent I understand why. Luckily for them, with Dynamax canonically only being possible in the Galar region, we probably won't be seeing it in future games. Still though, I feel like this is one of the better "battle gimmicks" that game freak has come up with. Controversial, I know.

First of all, I'd like to recognize that I haven't play competitive singles in gen 8, and I'm very low ladder playing competitive doubles. I totally understand how dynamax is boring in singles. In 1v1 there's a lot of pressure to dynamax when your opponent does. Even non-competitive players can experience this pressure in the story mode. Despite that, for both the story mode and playing a bit of doubles online, I find dynamax to be a really fun mechanic.

I've heard some people say "Dynamax is just three turns of z moves". I don't think this is totally accurate though. There are some small differences, like the fact that a max move doesn't do nearly as much damage as a z move would, but I think the main important difference is the extra effects added to max moves. I enjoyed the status z moves (even if a lot of them weren't very good), but the purpose of most z moves is to one-shot an opposing pokemon. It's just a big, beefy move. A max move can be used intentionally to set terrain or weather or modify stats, giving you advantages to using them at the right time besides just "opposing pokemon weak to type". The existence of max guard is also a great addition. With a z move, protect would only lessen the damage. The same is true for max moves, but in a situation where your dynamaxed pokemon is weak to your opponent's, max guard can be instrumental in stalling them out of turns.

The extra HP and 3 turn limit also add a great bit of strategic depth. Using dynamax to increase your pokemon's HP so they don't die to something is a legitimate and I think interesting use. Once you do, there's also a lot of pressure not to switch and waste your dynamax, but I think it's also very interesting that if you need to, you can. Plus, the fact that your moves change for 3 turns is interesting. "Do I dynamax my rillaboom? I could kill the opposing pokemon but then I don't have a priority move in grassy glide for the next 2 turns". Being able to also temporarily "unlock" a choice-item holding pokemon is another really interesting use for dynamax.

Mega evolutions and Z moves, on the other hand, are much less strategically interesting. For the most part, you always mega evolve your pokemon on the first turn that you sent it out. There were a few niche cases where you didn't (like getting speed boosts with Sharpedo), but if you had a mega stone on your team that pokemon was always going to mega evolve. (As an aside, I do really love mega evolutions, mainly for the fact that they made some underused pokemon more usable. On the other hand, some pokemon probably shouldn't have gotten them).

Z moves are even worse. While there are some interesting concepts with putting weird moves you otherwise wouldn't use on your pokemon and the status z moves have some fun effects, you're essentially just planning for one surprise hit and trying to predict the type of move you're going to need.

Finally, I'd like to talk about Dynamax in story mode. I love the fact that it's not always an option, since it makes it so much more special. Mega evolution couldn't really be experienced until later on in X and Y, since it required a fully evolved pokemon. Plus, the fact that you had to find the specific mega stone for the pokemon you wanted to evolve meant that most players probably only used mega Lucario or the kanto starter they were given. Even then though, once you did get access to it there was pretty much no reason not to mega evolve in every battle besides not wanting to watch the animation every single time.

Z moves were better about giving players access from the very beginning, but again they suffer the same problem where it's usable in every battle. The only reason I'm not all out pummeling little Timmy's Ratatta is because I don't want to watch the god damn animation for the 100th time.

Making dynamax only available in "important" battles was a really good move. Players can get a taste of it in a max raid battle (although honestly max raid battles have their own problems), then they can't actually use it until the battle against the first gym leader. This moment of the gym leader dynamaxing their pokemon and you dynamaxing yours is freaking awesome, with the music changing, the animation, everything. Sure the animation is long, but when it only happens once per battle for a handful of battles it's not as big of a deal. If I had been dynamaxing every battle up until this point this would not feel special. Of course, the opponent dynamaxing isn't really a threat, but that's mainly because this game is easy as hell and gym leaders are still using entirely monotype teams. When my fire beats your grass it's not really an interesting or challenging choice to pick who to dynamax.

Despite that, I feel like as its own, standalone mechanic, dynamax is really great. I think there should be more counterplay to it for single battles (if you could flinch, force switch out, or otherwise mess with a dynamax pokemon's game plan it probably wouldn't have needed to be banned in smogon) and I wish the animation wasn't as long when I was battling online. Still, I feel like this mechanic gets a lot of flack just for being the third of these gimmicks that's added to try and sell the game and then discarded in the very next entry. I know it won't happen, but I'd love to see it expanded upon and improved. It's not perfect, but honestly if we have to have a gimmick in every generation I'd like to see more like this one.

A region based on an area stretching from southern Virgina to Northern Pennsylvania and Ohio.

    Posted: 12 Jul 2020 09:58 AM PDT

There could be gyms in cities based on DC, Pittsburgh ,Richmond, Point Pleasant, Cleveland, Philadelphia, Baltimore, and Dover. There could be many coastal areas on the east part of the map.

The new Pokemon of the region can be based on the history of the area , local folklore, and common animals. Areas in the region based on PA would have an overabundance of deer Pokemon. Places based on Maryland would have a lot of crab Pokemon. A Point pleasant based city would have a lot of moth Pokemon.

The NPCs in the region could have a multitude of different accents. The champion would have a braviary and would essentially be a president like character. Some clothing options could be 18/19th century suits or military uniforms. There could also be sport jerseys based on local teams.

The story could be based on the idea of change vs tradition. The evil team could be either for change or tradition.

I also like Kanto and Unova. Plus there's galar. Which region do you like guys. Tell me in the comments

How would you feel if next year, instead of a new game, we got more DLC?

    Posted: 12 Jul 2020 11:19 AM PDT

So obviously this year, as we are getting DLC, we are not getting a main series game, and honestly, most people seem to have reacted fairly well to that. Even if people dislike the idea of DLC in Pokemon anyway, the general consensus is that taking a year without a new game is only going to be healthy for the series. I would say I agree with this.

Here's my question - if we got another year of just SwSh DLC next year, how would you feel?

Now obviously this is unlikely, but I wanted to humour the plausibility and see where people's opinions on the state of the franchise roughly lie at the moment. Let's start with the cons. It means another year of DLC. And for many people, that is a no deal. Firstly, not everyone likes SwSh and not everyone bought SwSh. So it would be yet another year of SwSh where some people just really aren't into that. People are looking to the next big thing... And this might not be it. Unite has proven that people want to see big new projects in the franchise.

And for the pros? Well, ignoring the fact that there are people who do like SwSh and would enjoy more DLC, there's also the fact that it means they can spend more time working on whatever project comes next. Sure, they still have to work on the DLC, but it still gives them more breathing room than if they had a new game in that slot. Also, it would bring with it more old Pokemon, and I daresay it would bring the rest of the old Pokemon and moves back, including all the starters and, heck, the megas as well. I think this will all be added over the course of the generation anyway (for example, if the next game had all the missing Pokemon in it, those Pokemon would be added to SwSh via an update) but the DLC would also be a viable way for it to be added.

I think personally I would be pretty happy with that. I think having the time to work on and perfect whatever their next game is will be crucial. And I don't honestly mind waiting, I never have minded.

But what about you? If this ended up being the case how would you feel? Would you be happy, or feel cheated?

I made a Dream where a new type was announced and I'm disappointed that I can't return to sleep lol

    Posted: 12 Jul 2020 05:45 AM PDT

Everything seemed do damn realistic, it started with me watching an episode of Journeys where they return to Motostoke in Galar and stumble into a weird ass creature that sorta looked like Stakastaka

Then, curious about which Pokemon that us, I look it up on the internet and see a new type announced, something like Obscure but not exactly, I even remember looking up the type strength and weaknesses and seeing it didn't take damage from Normal

I was do excited cause apparently some older Mons had type shifts like with Fairy and got a new form for that type, Volcarona, Mewtwo and some bird iirc The last thing I remember is thinking these were edgy af and wanting to make a meme here comparing the new forms to YoKai Watch 4's Shadow forms

I know all that is useless, but I felt like telling it to someone, hope you enjoyed reading about my weird experience as much as I did experiencing it

Ash was the worst part about the SM anime

    Posted: 12 Jul 2020 09:49 AM PDT

The SM anime was a divisive one for fans. Some people hated the art style. Some people hated the slice of life tone. But I feel like the complaints against it wouldn't exist had Ash not been there.

Because there's nothing wrong with Pokémon going comedic/slice-of-life. Heck, it's probably what a ton of fans would like to see. Real 10 year olds wouldn't travel a region with a fire breathing pig and challenge legendary creatures responsible for building the world, they'd go to school, go to parks, eat dinner with their families and watch tv. Maybe singe the curtains and get grounded. And Pokemon could have a series that does that. But it DOESN'T work when the main character has had a 20+ year theme of traveling the world.

It doesn't matter what Ash does in a region; what Pokémon he catches, what legendary/mythical Pokémon he affects, or what friends he makes, his story must ALWAYS end with him leaving said region. That doesn't fit in the SM anime where he suddenly has a home, goes to school and is basically Kukui and Burnet's son. The memories he makes don't feel genuine because he's destined to leave and will probably never recall them. The lessons he learned in school? Forgotten. The Pokémon he met? He won't remember, whip out the dex.

Imagine if the SM anime was about "Sunny", this new kid from Kanto cheesed off about having to move to Alola with his Mom. Even his partner Pikachu is bummed. His Mom suggests he check out Hau'Oli City where he comes across the school and the trial captain classmates. His Mom enrolls him at the school, much to his dismay and his Mom secretly tells his teacher Kukui that he's been acting out since they started packing. Kukui agrees to keep an eye on Sunny, offering to have him be his second assistant in addition to Lillie. While Sunny acts like he's cool and better than those Alolan Loafers, he sees his Pikachu having fun with the captains' Pokémon and he slowly starts to bond with everyone. The events of the anime are still the same save for Brock and Misty, but the kids still visit Kanto where Sunny geeks out before feeling homesick until his Mom points out how happier he's gotten since the move.

This all cumulates into Sunny's victory at the league, where he happily accepts Alola as his home. He decides to stay as Kukui's assistant, wanting to learn even more about the region and become the best trainer in Alola.

Instead, we get "Congratulations Alola, your first champion of the Alola League is a kid who only came here because his butler won a lottery and now he's gonna bounce and leave his Pokémon for you to feed".

This also hurts the new series. At the end of SM, Ash announces that his newest addition to his current dream is to travel. Aside from that being a weird dream, he's BEEN traveling, that dream is utterly tarnished because the next time we see Ash, he's sleeping in again. The idea of Ash becoming a research fellow doesn't come from Ash himself, Cerise gives him the job and it conveniently involves him traveling. We don't even get a moment of Ash going "OMG, that's what I wanted to do!" If we took a break from Ash at the end of XYZ, which ends with him arriving home, it would make more sense to open Journeys with him STILL at home, helping Oak and tending to his old Pokémon, but perhaps listless until Oak invites him to Cerise's lab. Imagine how awesome it would be if Ash and Goh went to Alola and met Sunny, like he did with Alain.

TL;DR I think Ash was the worst part about the SM anime because he's been written to travel, not go to school and watch tv. They should have introduced a new character if they wanted an accurate 10-year old kid.

Dynamax is kind of a joke in the anime

    Posted: 11 Jul 2020 06:35 PM PDT

So, before I get lambasted in the comments, hear me out instead of judging on the title alone—if you still like it, that's perfectly fine.

So ya know how some people (myself included) already don't like the Dynamax gimmick in the games? Well imagine Dynamax feeling significantly more superfluous and nonsensical to a degree of being absolutely pointless in the grand scheme of the battle.

Now, from what we've seen so far, Dynamax in the anime works as such:

    • Regular attacks plink off Dynamaxed 'Mons—Dynamax is needed to combat Dynamax
    • Max Moves can be dodged, especially if you're Leon
    • Max Moves can also be destroyed with other Max Moves, especially by "unbeatable" Charizards

But I feel like the largest offense seen by Dynamax in the anime is how a vast majority of the tension is removed. So far, they've only been shown as these spectacles done after two Pokémon duke it out at regular size for a little bit (mind you, the only battles they've shown have been 1v1). In other words, the battle's outcome is pretty much determined during the Dynamax segment—the part where they battle normally is just a waste of time. So when they Dynamax, you can put 2 and 2 together to realize that one of those 'Mons is going down in no later than 3 moves. Should they both survive, I'm just going to assume that they're going to do that cliche where both Pokémon stare at each other until one of them collapses.

So, to summarize how Dynamax battles work in the anime thus far:

    • Two opposing Pokémon battle normally for absolutely no reason
    • Those two Pokémon are then Dynamaxed after clashing for a bit
    • One of those Pokémon WILL go down in 3 turns or less, especially if Leon is involved

Before I make a final conclusion, I wanted to list some things that we've yet to see done with Dynamax in the anime that could possibly make Dynamax battles seem even more contrived than they already are:

    • A Dynamax battle where it's NOT just 1v1
    • A double battle with Dynamax
    • A Max Move being used on a normal-sized Pokémon
    • A normal-sized Pokémon (EXCLUDING Galar's legendary Pokémon) attempting to attack a Dynamaxed Pokémon again
    • Two non-Gigantamax Pokémon using Dynamax (I wanna see how they scale their size because I think the games really botched that detail up)
    • A Dynamax battle where both Pokémon survive the 3 turns
    • Trying to throw a regular Pokéball at a wild Dynamaxed Pokémon (Team Rocket's Jessie made an "attempt," quotes because she completely missed by slamming the ball into the ground)

To me, Dynamax is really contrived and poorly-executed in both the games and anime, but more so in the latter of the two. I really want to see a trainer use Dynamax to mow down a team, but I highly doubt that will happen. Dynamax just seems like a last-resort sort of thing like in the games, but it's significantly more scripted just to produce this faux sense of spectacle. Like, when the Dynamax gets whipped out in the anime, there's an invisible timer that says "this battle will end in 3 minutes or less," which really kills off the tension of wondering how long the battle could go on for. Like, compare Ash/Satoshi fighting Korrina's Mega Lucario for the SECOND time a couple weeks ago versus last week's episode where Leon crushes Raihan in a suit of Gigantamax-sized plot armor—knocked out in two turns btw. No respect.

Alrighty, try not to bruise me too badly, Pokéredditors.

Why I think the DLC isn’t a bad idea

This isn't me saying that SwSh is good, I do not like it, please do not get mad at me for that, that is just my opinion, I'm am just trying to say that the idea of dlc is good and I am not saying anything about the quality of that dlc or SwSh.

With things like Pokémon Emerald they include the battle frontier which is probably the best post game thing you can do in any Pokémon game, however you had to buy an entirely different game just to play it, so for people that decided to buy Pokémon Ruby or Sapphire wouldn't be able to buy Emerald because they already used there money to buy Ruby or Sapphire. This stays true for most games with three versions, and it sucks to have to buy another version, it doesn't make you want to buy another game, it's just annoying. The dlc fixed this, sure you still need to buy it, but it's a lot better then buying an entire new game. Again I don't really like SwSh, but the dlc is an amazing idea and people shouldn't get mad about it just because "it should be apart of the base game." People never got mad about them making entire new games just so that you get some more gyms leaders, sorry I mean "Frontier Brains" or whatever, people never get mad about other games getting dlc, so why are people so mad about this.

    Battling system evolution.

    Posted: 12 Jul 2020 08:45 AM PDT

This is something for which I would need much more time to explain in a deeper way because it's something I've been thinking about since a LONG time ago. I think many pokemon fans like me wish a new battle system, different from the classical turn-based one. So, reminded two combat systems which I've already seen implemented in pokemon games and, in my opinion, should have been implemented in the main series games since long ago.

1.- The majority of English-speaking people who I've asked through this platform seems not to be familiarized with "Pokemon Reloaded Edition", which I consider to be the most revolutionary pokemon Hackrom until today (due to its battle mechanics). In this Hackrom, (developed by "F3r"), battles are in real-time instead of turn-based. Pokemon battle in an open field, where many factors: Speed, strength, or accuracy have an essential role in your strategy, and movements are based on stamina instead of PPs. In consequence, ALL movements become really important, even those which are considered "useless" such as "Growl" or "Leer" for many players... ("Splash" is still useless, though XD). When I first saw it, I couldn't believe it, it felt like a real pokemon battle were you had to think faster than ever, controlling whether your stamina and your opponent's attacks in order to dodge them. Naturally, it increases a lot the difficulty of the game, since the computer has a clear advantage in the calculation of your movements and your position, whereas you're more likely to miss attacks, but the fun and the emotion of the challenge is greater than ever since pokemon with a lower lever can sweep everything away if you're not careful enough. Besides, your pokemon's movements are assigned to one specific key, so you must know it well and build a proper combination because you won't be able to select the movement manually.

If you're interested, you will find the Hackrom available in both English and Spanish here: http://pokemon-reloaded.blogspot.com/ .

2.- The second option may probably be more known. Have you ever played "Explorers of the sky/darkness" from the Pokemon Mistery Dungeon series? Do you remember the battle system here? It was turn-based as the common pokemon games, but much more complex. Every time you faced up an opponent, your were forced to select among 3 options: Moving to a better position, Selecting and executing a movement, or using an object. It made the combat quite more complex since some pokemon are better fighting from distance and others prefer close combat. Besides, depending on the battlefield conditions, you could have an advantage over the enemy or not: if you were a water-type you could stack from lakes, were pokemon from other types could not access, and the same happened with fire-type pokemon and lava lakes, or ground/rock pokemon with Sandstorm... I insist we're talking about a game from 2008! I love the way how several elements from the battlefield, the position you take or your Pokemon's speed did actually count on the battle's development, further than just attacking with the most effective movement. Just imagine if it was improved in the future, adding other elements like rocks to shelter and heal yourself, elevated zones to attack from distance, or even frozen floor to disrupt many pokemon's moving capacity or speed. There is a huge bunch of possibilities, and this system was already implemented.

I selected these options since they seemed to me the most enjoyable battle experiences I've ever had, in my loooong experience as a veteran pokemon player. My question is the same for the two of them Why haven't they been implemented in Pokemon's main line games yet? I'm not a programmer, but one of these systems was developed by one only person as a hobby, and the other one (quite good as well), was already in one official game from The Pokemon Company... This is what I cannot simply understand, but I've talked enough. What do you think about all these? Have you ever had the same question? You think they could be improved even more? Or don't you like the idea?...

Want to Start a Pokemon Podcast but no Pokemon Friends Close by?

    Posted: 12 Jul 2020 04:43 AM PDT

I've been wanting to start a Pokemon podcast for a while borne, of course, out of my love for the franchise. However, I have no real life friends who are also into Pokemon - or at least don't dare to admit it.

I'm looking to begin a Pokemon podcast where each episode would focus on one (probably) randomly chosen Pokemon and explore thoughts on that Pokemon and how it appears in the anime and the games. It would be focussed heavily on this rather than looking at the weekly news which enough Pokemon podcasts cover already.

I'd be more than happy to do the show myself but feel as though that would get boring for the consumer and feel like a bit of a Poke-lecture. Just wondered if anybody would be up for collaborating at all? I know it's a long shot. I know how difficult it is. Just reaching out.

Why can't I trade in Home?

    Posted: 12 Jul 2020 09:19 AM PDT

So in pokemon home, I found a trade for a shiny I want, it was asking for a 81-90 Mewtwo. I went to get a Mewtwo and I got one through the GTS but when I go back to trade for the shiny, it says that I can't trade the Mewtwo. I am at a campground rn but I was able to get the Mewtwo from here so I don't think that's the problem. What am I doing wrong?

Edit: Someone took the trade but I found another shiny that was looking for a Staravia, I have the shiny now. Crisis averted

Pokemon 2019 28 - Messon Sobs For What Reason? Episode Discussion!

What would be a perfect next few years of pokemon games for you?

    Posted: 12 Jul 2020 09:12 AM PDT

Basically just the title. What games do you want to see in the near future for pokemon? What would they include? How would they be unique? Even if your list is completely unreasonable, I just want to hear what would be a perfect next few years of pokemon for you! Okay, I'll go into my list.

2020: isle of armor/crown tundra DLC (starting with what already exists)

2021: pokemon z. Zygarde never got its game, so why not have it now? This would be basically xy, but with a better story, centered more around zygarde and the galar region as the post game. Also mega evolution is back with new introductions like flygon, venomoth, magmortar, blissey, etc. Also routes are replaced with mini wild areas, but this time with trainer battles. National dex is back.

2022: pokemon salty diamond and pokemon peppery pearl (cant think of any good names). These games are the long awaited DPPT remakes. They will provide the classic sinnoh regions with a bunch of newer features! Also the battle fronteir and mega evolution are present! The routes are still similar to the originals, but then there are also 2-4 wild areas scattered throughout the region! National dex is back.

2023: no new pokemon game, they are using all their energy for the year to make an even better gen 9. However, they add a virtual console game for pokemon ruby, sapphire and emerald. They also do many events for all 5 gen 8 games to make sure fans are happy.

2024: pokemon pasta and pokemon pizza are here and introduce the all new Italia region for gen 9(sorry again, cant think of good names...). This is the first region to be open world and level scaling/team scaling is a thing. Story is weak, but sense of adventure is better than it's ever been. You will start in the large city for a change (based on rome) and then you will be able to go in any direction you want to whatever next town you chose. There will be 14 towns, 8 have gyms that you can go to in any order. Since the routes have been replaced with a region wide wild area, you can go wherever you want. There will be towns based on Naples, florence, venice as well as a bunch of smaller towns. Once you beat whichever 7 gyms, the legendary starts roaming and causing havoc. You need to stop it. The legendary pokemon for pasta version is spagheto and has been terrorizing towns with tomato sauce. The legendary for pizza version is meateaterdeluxe. He has been terrorizing towns with pepperoni the size of people. Then the third legendary, tomatana will stop them by weakening the power or their tomato sauce. With that, they will fall apart. Then you can capture them and customize how they look with pizza/pasta toppings. Then you will beat the 8th gym and pokemon league and your done with the main story. Then there will be a post game in Sicily. This will be an extensive, heavily story based post game on this island to pay up for the lack of story in the main game. Then in the top left hand corner of the map, there will be a train station that has a train going west with no explanation and that will be tha game.

2025: it turns out that the train station that was going west attaches to the couriway town train station is kalos! DLC or a 3rd version of the game will be similar to pasta and pizza, but have a more refined story and more post game in kalos.

2026: pokemon let's go maril and pokemon let's go togepi are released! This is like hgss, but better graphics and a stronger story of the jhoto region. Then it will have kanto, but also the sinnoh region as a huge twist! You will be able to access kanto as normal, but then you will be able to get to sinnoh through the sinjoh ruins! However, the sinnoh region will be pretty much the same as they were in salty diamond and peppery pearl with the only real differences being story and what npcs say (to make it more realistic for game freak to do).

Ok, that would be a perfect next few years of pokemon for me. What would be an ideal next few years of pokemon for you?

    Emerald Battle Frontier Advicr

    Posted: 12 Jul 2020 10:53 AM PDT

    Hello All!

I have recently started a playthrough if Pokemon Emerald and I am absolutely loving the game. I would like to complete the game in full, which includes beating the Battle Frontier.

I have looked up guides for it and many recommend either Latias or Latios. I have already decided which one my game spawns (Latios) though I have not caught it yet. Since I have saved, whatever nature it will have is fixed.

How essential is it that Latios has a decent nature? Is it possible (though understandably not easy) to beat the BF with a poor nature but good EVs, moves and item?

Any advice would be much welcomed! ^
