Welcome to this week's edition of Rebuild Tuesday, a weekly event we're doing along with our Discord!

This week's Pokemon is Butterfree!

#012 Butterfree (Japanese バタフリー Butterfree)

Butterfly Pokémon

In battle, it flaps its wings at great speed to release highly toxic dust into the air. It collects honey every day. It rubs honey onto the hairs on its legs to carry it back to its nest.

Butterfree's Base Stats:

HP: 60
Attack: 45
Defense: 50
Sp. Attack: 90
Sp. Defense: 80
Speed: 70

Introduction:

Butterfree has access to the powerful combination of Compound Eyes and Sleep Powder to boost Sleep Powder's accuracy, which then allows it time to set up using Quiver Dance. Regardless, this strategy isn't always reliable since even with increased speed, Butterfree is still vulnerable to being revenge killed by a lot of threats since Butterfree has mediocre bulk and a lacking base speed stat. As a result, super-effective priority moves remain a huge problem even after it sets up. Using its other ability, Tinted Lens, still doesn't make it significantly better. Even with the boosted Air Slash or Bug Buzz as a strong alternative for resistant foes, it is still overall less effective than other sweepers. With boosted stats and alternative options, Butterfree has the potential to sweep easier and punch holes in the opposing team.

How viable do you trainers think Butterfree is? Is there anything else you think it needs in order to be a good competitive Pokémon (e.g. new moves, stats, abilities or typings)? What is its most optimal set?
