Hello everyone!

Welcome to this week's edition of Rebuild Tuesday, a weekly event we're doing along with our Discord!

This week we'll be looking at everyone's favourite Christmas-themed Pokémon, Delibird!

#225 Delibird (Japanese デリバード Delibird)

Delivery Pokémon

It carries food all day long. There are tales about lost people who were saved by the food it had. It has a generous habit of sharing its food with people and Pokémon, so it's always scrounging around for more food.

Delibird's Base Stats:

HP: 45
Attack: 55
Defense: 45
Sp. Attack: 65
Sp. Defense: 45
Speed: 75

Introduction:

Ah, Delibird. The cutest little penguin with almost nothing going for it. Languishing in untiered, its highest stat is its base 75 speed, which outspeeds most of the PU tier. Despite having a superior Special Attack, its Attack stat is actually better due to its ability Hustle, which increases attack at the cost of lower accuracy - but its still not particularly strong. But worst of all, it has base 45 defences across the board, meaning it dies to most threats. Pretty much the only thing it is useful for is collecting all the ribbons, and even that isn't recommended...

Despite its awful stats, it does have some utility. It has both Rapid Spin/Defog and Spikes, making it an okay choice for a suicide setter, outspeeding most other rapid spinners in PU that aren't Cryogonal, Hitmontop or Hitmonchan. On the offensive side, Delibird actually fairs a little better. With access to Hustle, its physical moves can become pretty powerful. It has access to STAB Brave Bird, which when boosted by Hustle can OHKO anything weak to it. Additionally, it has access to Ice Shard, which allows it to finish off a lot of Pokémon that would otherwise kill it. It got some new tricks in Gen 8 with Dual Wingbeat and Triple Axel, but they're outclassed by the aforementioned moves. This is without mentioning its most interesting move, Present, which adds a fun bit of RNG into the equation!
