    Posted: 28 Aug 2021 03:34 AM PDT

From the beginning of the Pokémon franchise, fire type Pokémon are pretty famous! Some for their power and some for their design!! It just came to my mind to just do a poll to find out the most famous fire type starter🔥!!

For me, it's Blaziken!! I really love it's design and it's also super powerful!! According to me, it's one of the best Pokémon till now!!!

    Favourite region for gen 9

    Posted: 28 Aug 2021 04:25 AM PDT

I was just thinking which of the following regions would you like for gen 9? There are really a lot of interesting places that could be used in the future. Personally, I would like to see Greece as a Pokemon region given its history, mythology, and cultural/physical scenery. Just imagine all of the Greek mythology-based Pokemon, especially the legendaries and mythical ones. In addition, it would be nice if we could have regional forms of Solrock and Lunatone, where they would get a boost as well. Which of the following would you like as a region?

I think most criticism towards Pokémon main games would be thwarted by having the option for a higher difficulty

    Posted: 28 Aug 2021 03:22 AM PDT

I just came to this realization while playing the Divine Sword difficulty hack.

I believe most criticisms toward the gen 8 are solid. The graphics are bad, the story beyond stupid, and dexit was a kick in the nuts. The shortcomings of the games can be explained by both the target audience and Gamefreak just being a bad dev studio.

But as disappointed as I was the first time I played Pokemon Shield, I am now having an absolute blast with the hack rom. Here's the thing: the criticism come mainly from hardcore fans who grew up with the franchise, and I think all they want is to relive the experience they had when they were trying to beat Lorelei while trying to decipher what was happening on their twelve pixel LCD screen with the help of the passing yellow lampposts on the back of their parents car at the end of the summer. They were proud of their Blastoise for hanging on its last LP while skull bashing Lapras. They were sad their Butterfree fainted to Dewgong's Icebeam without having to prove its worth. They bonded with their Pokémon that they trained for weeks. And that's exactly what happened to me again while struggling to beat Kabu, even if now my team is the product of all my neurons working hand in hand with Bulbapedia in the express purpose of building the 2010 Real Madrid team of Pocket Monsters. And now I don't give a shit about the turd trees or the kindergarten level of dialogs. I'm having fun.

And I think the Venn diagram of players who hate the new Gens the most and players who have fun with difficulty is a circle, or the very least a circle viewed with beer goggles. An optional harder difficulty would be easy to implement, wouldn't deter young and new players as it would be optional, and would give Gamefreak the opportunity of getting away with their shitty work. What do you think?

    Next fire starter?

    Posted: 28 Aug 2021 10:39 AM PDT

In the past, fire starters have been based on the Chinese zodiac.

Dragon = Charmander Rat = Cyndaquil Rooster = Torchic Monkey = Chimchar Pig = Tepig Dog = Fennekin Tiger = Litten Rabbit = Scorbunny

(This is for context in case you didn't know which starter counted as which)

Following the trend we only have four base designs left. This is usually a guarantee regardless of region or starter theme. Which one are you hoping for next and why?

What are some moves specific Pokémon SHOULD have, but currently do not?

    Posted: 27 Aug 2021 07:31 PM PDT

For example, I personally believe that Yanmega should have access to Fly, mainly due to its' Pokédex entry bragging about how it can easily carry an adult human. If it can easily Baton Pass both a Substitute AND at least +1 Speed, then it should be allowed to have Fly.

Aerodactyl, despite having Rock Head as its' ability, does not get either Head Smash or Brave Bird, yet Pokémon like Crobat gets Brave Bird, despite being a bat.

Flareon is the only fully evolved Fire-type that doesn't learn Solarbeam in any generation.

Floatzel, a Pokémon with two tails, can't learn Tail Slap.

What are some others that I'm missing?

How didn't Game Freak realize the potential for 3D models?

    Posted: 28 Aug 2021 05:36 AM PDT

I was just playing Sword and I looked at Blaziken's 3D model, it's almost perfect. Blaziken has this battle stance like he's ready, hands up front, eyes on the target and on the other hand there's Pikachu who's just standing. Why's this the case?

On top of this, they have been reusing the same models for 7 years. 7 YEARS.

If you see, from Red and Blue to Black and White - every generation added a new sprite, making it look fresh and new. Every game felt like "Hey, there's Lucario! My boy looks super cool in this generation!". This quickly changed after X and Y. The same sprite, which looked super DEAD INSIDE. Lets take Pikachu as an example again - a Pokémon should not be that motionless other than the breathing, I say - the sprites should be similar to Pikachu's battle stance in the anime, (on 4 legs, with battle expression in his eyes) I cannot again see a Pikachu or literally anyone else, Blastoise? Blastoise also just stands there like there's no battle he's just reflecting on his past mistaking thinking why dont people choose me instead of Charmander and then bam Mewtwo hits him with a Hyper Beam. The idle stance should strictly be there for inspecting - in the box, team menu, etc. Every Pokemon should have a BATTLE STANCE, like Blaziken. Imagine if Blaziken just stood still like his standing position when he's following you in Crown Tundra, that's what every other Pokemon is doing. Give them a battle stance, legs cocked and ready to attack or on 4 legs about to do a Volt Tackle. Give them a battle stance, please. ITS BEEN 7 YEARS.

PS I know people must have thought about it before but had to write down my thoughts somewhere

Does your favorite Pokémon use your favorite color?

    Posted: 28 Aug 2021 07:10 AM PDT

Just some food for thought that I came up with the other day, and finally felt like asking. The pool of answers does not matter, just wanted to see where other people stand on this. There is an option incase this applies to your favorite as a shiny as well. Feel free to discuss in the comments as well!

What Pokémon do you think doesn’t quite look like a Pokémon design?

    Posted: 28 Aug 2021 07:27 AM PDT

I'm sure everyone has looked at a Pokémon design and thought that it just doesn't fit in with the rest. For me that Pokémon is Dhelmise. Something about it makes it stand out from the rest - it kind of reminds me of a Yokai from Yokai Watch (although I never played those games) and I think it is because there is a lot going on and it's design and Pokémon designs tend to be simple and stick to a few colours.

I want to know what design everyone else thinks doesn't seem like it is a Pokémon at first glance.

    Nurse Joy sisters

    Posted: 28 Aug 2021 04:23 AM PDT

Are they still doing the whole "every Nurse Joy are sisters" thing because the anime started in like 1995 and Ash has been across the globe and met over 700 Nurse Joy....there's 1150 episodes and well over half of them have a Nurse Joy. Did someone give birth to over 700 girls?

    What?

If Pokemon and Pokemon Trainers were real, what would realistically be the strongest Pokemon team your 10-year old self could put together?

    Posted: 28 Aug 2021 08:00 AM PDT

Realistically here means, Pokemon that would realistically live in your area or any areas that your 10-year old self could access (so you won't have a driver's license). Lack of Pokemon-related knowledge from your kid self can be disregarded in this question.

Bonus question: Who would be the strongest character in the Pokemon game/anime/manga universe your 10-year old self could defeat with that team?

    Imagine an ultimate pokemon game

    Posted: 28 Aug 2021 01:56 AM PDT

So I was watching a video on pokemon: crystal clear, which is a Romhack of crystal which lets you go anywhere and play the game in an open world style, and I was wondering: what if there was an official game like that.

All 8 regions. You start in any of the 8 regions. You can go wherever you want from square 1. You could start in kanto and take a ferry all the way to galar if you want.

The way I'd (personally) make it work is that once you've picked your starting area, You have to beat the first couple of gyms/trials in order to unlock a ferry system or airport in order to travel to the other regions. Your main goal is just to defeat all the gym leaders and the elite 4 members (which would probably be the elite 28 and some random gym leaders and rivals from earlier in the game (I'm looking at you galar)).

You can pick any of the player characters and choose any of the starters from gen 1-8 (including ones like Pikachu and eevee).

You could also pick some special starters like ditto or magikarp (gimmick Pokémon basically, so sdeninja and smeargle and slackoth and so on) and maybe others like pidgey and other famous Pokémon.

After beating a certain amount of gyms (maybe after getting 24 of the 75 badges (there's about 75 different in-game badges/gyms from my count)). You could increase your Pokémon amount to 7, then at 48 increase it to 8, and then at 75 increase it to 9.

All the gym leaders (and rivals and maybe regular trainers) would scale their level depending on the amount of badges you have (possibly increasing the level cap to 300 to fit all the badges in to more than a 1 level increase each time). This would prevent you from just demolishing all the early gyms and obliterating all gyms, and make the later gyms possibly earlier on.

Every single legendary and mythical and all that would be here, with ways to get them, and Pokémon that can only revolve by trade, the tradeback guy (or girl if you want) will allow you to do that without risking your Pokémon and without needing friends in the first place.

Also you'd have 3 or 4 save slots. Yes it doesn't matter as much on switch as you can just make some more profiles for other saves but still.

Pokémon Y using only Normal types, part I

    Posted: 28 Aug 2021 01:06 AM PDT

I just started a new challenge playthrough of Pokémon Y and I thought I'd share my progress. This will be part 1.

    These are the rules:

    - Only Pokémon that have the Normal type as their primary type can be used.

    - Exp share will be turned off

    - No items in battle

    - Battle mode is set to, well, "set"

First order of business was of course choosing a starter, which I would ditch as soon as possible. I choose Froakie, so Serena would end up with Chespin. That way, her starter in its final form would be super effective against my normal types. Seems fitting.

After the introductory stuff, I made my way to route 2 and caught my actual starter: a Pidgey named Tornado. Soon after, a Bunnelby named Burrows was added to the team.

I continued to make my way through Santalune forest, which mostly served to level up my team a bit. Route 3, however, would grant me the third member of my team: Bidoof.

I caught a male Bidoof and named it Hercules (it's at the very least a demigod, right?). However it had an abysmal nature which lowered its attack stat, so I caught a second one. This one was female, so I named it Hera. Her nature was far better, so Hera was added to the team.

I got to the Pokémon center at Santalune and boxed Froakie and Hercules. Next up was route 22, with some trainer battles that helped me level up the team some more.

It was time to tackle the first gym. Hera and Tornado made short work of the gym trainers. With Pidgey at level 13, Viola should be no problem.

Indeed, it took only two gust attacks to take out Surskit, with Tornado receiving minimal damage. Vivillon was a different story however. Between Tornado's limited special attack and Vivillon being an evolved Pokémon, gust just didn't do a lot of damage. Add tot that the continued damage of Infestation, and Pidgey just wasn't quite able to finish the job. I brought in Burrows and Viola potioned. A few stab tackles were enough to wither it down this time. While infestation pushed Burrows to its limit, a Quick attack finished the job and the badge was mine.

And that's where I am now.

Thanks for reading, I'm exited to continue this journey and will post the next part soon.

im honestly really excited for Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl

    Posted: 27 Aug 2021 12:44 PM PDT

it has been a long time since I last played the game and now its remake is coming soon!? I may be blinded by the nostalgia of my first ever pokemon game and its the game that brought me to enjoy the franchise still to this day. I dont care about the way they handled the graphics/chibi style of the game because that's what the originals had. im really excited for the expanded pokedex and the redoing of the Sinnoh Underground meaning I can catch and use pokemon I never got the chance to in the originals (I also never played platinum but I know of its expanded pokedex)

how hyped is everyone else for the Diamond and Pearl remakes coming soon?

Beating Pokemon Shield With Only A Hoothoot

    Posted: 28 Aug 2021 07:23 AM PDT

I tried to beat Pokemon Shield with only the best and roundest bird pokemon, Hoothoot. Here were the rules:

-Can only use Hoothoot for attacking enemy pokemon

    -Cannot evolve Hoothoot

    -No items in battle

-Choose Grookey, so that Hop will get Sobble, as eventually it gets Icy Wind, just to make this a little harder

-Can catch other pokemon and use pokemon like Zigzagoon for their pickup ability, just don't have them use any moves in battle.

So, let's start up the run.

Proceed through the game normally until you get pokeballs and can access Route 1.

In Route 1, Hoothoot has a 5% chance of appearing when you touch the rustling grass, so it will take likely you a while. I got lucky and found it rather quickly. I named it Pidgey, because that's hilarious. I trained it up a little, and then went through the rest of Postwick and Wedgehurst. The Hop battle was really easy, Hoothoot easily demolished them, since they were at level 10 or so from the encounters since then.

After that, you unlock the Wild Area. This is easily the best place to train, with the Dynamax battles being pretty easy, and giving exp candies. Be ready to return here to do some grinding, you're going to need it later on. Once I trained up a bit, I continued on, and defeated Hop again after registering on Route 3. Hoothoot should be at least level 15 by then, so you should defeat him with ease.

Turffield shouldn't be too bad, considering Milo uses Grass types. In the gym battle, just Dynamax immediately and use Max Airstream three times. If Eldegoss is still up, just hit em a few more times.

If you need to, train up to about level 30 for the Hop battle on Route 5. His pokemon are level 20.

    Now, Hulbury...

    Hulbury is a problem.

It's a problem because the gym leader is Nessa.

And her ace is a Drednaw.

Buckle up, this is the hardest challenge so far.

Her first few pokemon aren't too bad. Take them out with a few flying type moves. But once you get to Drednaw... hoo boy. This thing can oneshot you. First, I tried Dynamaxing and using Max Airstream. I couldn't do enough damage in time, and it used Max Rockfall twice, defeating me. I tried again, and failed again.

Next, I got Reflect, so I could use Max Guard. At most, you can use it twice out of three of your Dynamax turns. So, I used Max Guard, then attacked, then Max Guard again. But when we both ran out of dynamax, the Drednaw just used Razor Shell to finish Pidgey.

So, my only option was to grind. And... I may have gotten a bit carried away.

I leveled Pidgey up to 60.

Yeah, the fight was pretty easy after that. Pidgey could take the hits rather well, and dish out enough damage to knock out Drednaw. With enough luck, you might even be able to get all three Max Guards to work, and avoid all damage.

My moveset from then on was Air Slash, Extrasensory, Moonblast, and the last slot held various moves I needed, such as Shadow Ball for Ghost types, Steel Wing for fairy types, etc.

Anyways, after that, Galar Mine 2 might give some troubles, what with the rock types, but you should make it through fine.

Kabu was really easy for me, since I had just leveled Pidgey up way too much, though you might need to grind a bit to level up if you didn't grind like I did for Nessa.

The Hop battle in Stow-On-Side might give some trouble, since Cramorant is pretty annoying. Toxel may seem worrying, but it has no good Electric type moves.

Allister, his Gengar specifically, gave me some trouble. You may have to gain a few more levels, but he shouldn't be that bad. Pidgey had Shadow Ball at this point, so he could take it out rather easily.

Next up is Opal. She's a bit of a problem, since the only super effective move Hoothoot has access to is Steel vWing, and Hoothoot's Atk is not very good. I taught Pidgey Steel Wing, and went through. The battles weren't too hard, but Opal was a bit trickier. I took out Galarian Weezing with Extrasensory, then Dynamaxed, thinking I could use one Max Steelspike to take out each one.

Mawile said no to that idea.

It easily tanked all three of the hits, and when I eventually knocked it out, Pidgey had, of course, run out of dynamax. Togekiss was still pretty easy, with Steel Wing, and Alcremie did provide some trouble, but it still wasn't that bad.

Alright, now the battles are actually getting hard. I'm going to start going over them in more detail.

Oh, by the way, the Bede battles weren't too hard with Shadow Ball.

When you return to Hammerlocke, Hop challenges you to a battle. First he sends out his Trevenant. This one shouldn't be too hard, just use a few flying type moves. Next is Heatmor. A little harder, since you don't have anything super effective, but still easy with Air Slash. Snorlax is just annoying, since it has stockpile and powerful moves, on top of high HP. Just use your most powerful moves to try and whittle down it's HP, and hope you don't get paralyzed. Next up is Boltund. A little worrying, but I defeated it easily with Extrasensory. Finally, Inteleon. This one shouldn't be too bad, just use a few more Air Slashes, hope for those lucky flinches, and you should be gud.

In Circhester, Hop challenges you again. This time, he sends out Dubwool first. Just use Air Slash, this is getting repetitive isn't it. Corviknight is tough. Literally. Air Slash won't work against it, so you'll need to use things like Shadow Ball. Its steel type makes it resist most of your attacks. Just whittle down its HP like with Snorlax. Pincurchin is actually tough. It has Spark and Curse, both of which are pretty good moves. Take it out fast with Moonblast or Extrasensory, and don't let it get off a Spark. Snorlax is next, and the same strategy as before applies here. It doesn't have stockpile this time, but it has other strong moves, so be careful. Finally, Inteleon. Same strategy as before, should be pretty easy.

Melony is pretty easy. Her Ice type moves might give you some trouble, but your Psychic and Fairy type moves should make short work of her pokemon. Steel Wing can work.

Piers also shouldn't be too bad, as Moonblast will shred through his pokemon.

Hoo boy... Raihan. He's going to be hard.

First of all, this is a double battle. I just caught a magikarp for it. Gigalith is your first priority, as a pure rock type. Steel Wing or Moonblast should work if you're leveled up enough. You're probably going to need to be around level 100 for this. Shouldn't be too bad with the Wild Area. Moonblast should take out Flygon, though its Thunder Punch can really rough you up. Sandaconda is annoying, you won't have any super effective moves against it. Duraludon shouldn't be that bad, annoying perhaps because of his extreme toughness. His Max Rockfall can be deadly though. All in all, Raihan might take you multiple tries, but he's not impossible.

For the semi finals, the same strategies as before mostly apply. Nessa's Drednaw is, ironically, easier than before.

The encounter with Eternatus is, funnily enough, very easy. Just use Moonblast and Extrasensory a few times, and with Zacian and Zamazenta's help, you can catch him easily... and promptly throw him in a box cuz WE AIN'T USING HIM!

Finally, the last real hurdle of the game...

    Champion Leon.

    He's going to be hard.

You WILL need to be level 100, no question about it.

First up, Aegislash. A little annoying, with his high Atk and Def, but you have Shadow Ball. You might take some damage, but should defeat it.

Haxorus is next. Use Moonblast to defeat it. You also shouldn't take too much damage from this one. Do be careful, it's powerful.

Dragapult... is a problem. See, the rules dictate that you cannot use items in battle. But Dragapult has Thunderbolt, and of course Leon is going to spam Thunderbolt. See, you can take the Thunderbolts and defeat Dragapult with Moonblast. The problem comes here...

Next up... Is Cinderace. And Cinderace WILL be faster than you, and it WILL use Pyro Ball. And it WILL defeat Hoothoot. There is no way to stop it. Even if Pyro Ball misses, you cannot defeat it in one hit. It will hit it at least once, and finish Hoothoot off. Then again... theoretically... if Pyro Ball misses enough, you could defeat it. So, I grinded. Kept fighting. Pidgey fainted. Again and again. But we kept going. Determined to win.

And eventually, Pyro Ball missed for the third time, and Cinderace went down.

Seismitoad was easy compared to Cinderace, and took it out.

Finally, Charizard. The final hurdle. Be very careful. Use your most powerful attack, not Air Slash. I recommend Psychic. If you're lucky enough, and can dish out enough damage, you can defeat Leon.

And with that, the challenge was complete. Pidgey was in the hall of fame, he showed up solo on the title screen, and the strongest, most round bird you ever saw would become the stuff of legend.

Pidgey, the best birb, had single-handedly saved the world and become the champion.
