- Somebody had just raided this streamer, so he played around with the colours of the stream to trick them into thinking it was shiny. Then this happened.
- Caught a shiny zigzagoon, when i evolve him i noticed that he was holding a pokedoll. Now i will feel bad if i take It from him. :(
One culled Pokémon family every day until Dexit is reversed - Day 25 Posted: 28 Nov 2019 03:16 AM PST Doduo instantly became a favourite of mine when I read the Yellow arc of Pokemon Adventures as a kid. That manga somehow perfectly highlighted every Pokemon it featured so well. No matter how garbage the 'mon was in-game, they'd take details from the Pokedex entry or think of a really unique way of utilising it. The Ditto key, Blastoise jets and Jigglypuff balloon Green used are awesome examples. [link] [comments]

Posted: 28 Nov 2019 06:07 AM PST While the designs of gyms have been consistently changing these past few generations, the one thing that has not been changing much were the battles themselves. With almost most gyms being monotype teams, the strategy entering these gyms have always been the same. Most players just place their Pokémon that have a type advantage up front and steamroll the whole gym without much thought aside from the occasion double type Pokémon that is not weak to the move you used for the last 10 turns. This becomes very boring and should really be changed. I understand the necessity to teach new players basic type advantages, so the first gym would be a good place to teach them. The first gym could consist of trainers with different monotype teams to help reinforce typing advantages. They could also take a page out of BW and have the gym leader pick their Pokémon based on the starter you chose. After the first gym, the teams really should be more diverse and offer some challenge to incorporate proper type advantages while also facing other strategies. Some strategies they could have for gyms include more status effects, special versus physical attacks, defensive tanks, sweeper teams, weather teams, priority moves, entry hazards (stealth rocks, spikes, etc.), and much more. As the game progresses, the previous strategies used in prior gyms can also be incorporated with the current gyms to add more depth. This makes it so you can't rush through a gym with just 1 or 2 Pokémon with a type advantage, and you have to start thinking more about how to counter the play style than how to counter the Pokémon type. This in turn will show players all of the different strategies you can employ instead of just selecting the strongest damaging moves with the best typing. An interesting example they could use is have a gym that is themed towards setting up hazards with a strategy to force you to change Pokémon if the type matchup is unfavorable (such as using roar, whirlwind, dragon tail, etc.). This will cause some horrific damage to the player's team if the hazards are set up and they constantly attempt to swap Pokémon for a type advantages, especially if their Pokémon are slower. The use of forcing Pokémon in and out will also make setting up a sweep rather difficult if not done properly. However, they will come up with strategies to overcome this whether it is killing the Pokémon setting up the hazards quickly, getting rapid spin/defog, or adapting as your Pokémon get swapped in and out with the best moves available. This concept can also be carried over to other important characters such as the elite four, the champion, the evil organization, and especially the rival(s). As the rival progresses through the game with you, they can incorporate some of the tactics they encountered before to help show you how you can have Pokémon dedicated to certain positions aside from just a powerhouse that deals a lot of damage. Given how diverse the strategies can be for Pokémon as a whole, the 8 monotype gyms don't do the games any justice since it's just surface level information that you can pick up pretty quickly. Type advantages has been much more streamlined since the addition of telling how effective a move will be against a previously encountered Pokémon in gen 7. Having a diverse typing of teams with various strategies will help cement the concept of type advantages as well as teaching viable battle strategies with their counters. [link] [comments]

Wife just merc'd a shiny duskull Posted: 27 Nov 2019 07:19 PM PST I glanced up while working and saw her fighting a red duskull. Thought there may be some effect on him and asked "woah, is the lighting weird or is he red?" She responded "yeah, he did like a weird thing when he popped in!" While she scrolled slowly to bite and 1-shotted the only shiny I've seen ever since I picked up my first Pokemon game in 97. Big oof to kick off the holidays [link] [comments]
Why don't enemy trainers...uh...think? Posted: 28 Nov 2019 08:39 AM PST If my pokemon has 10hp and will clearly die in one more hit, why do enemy trainers use moves like screech, growl, defense curl, etc, instead of just taking them out? When I send out a water pokemon and they have a fire pokemon and an electric pokemon why don't they switch to the electric pokemon? Do enemy trainers use any strategy at all? Or do they just randomly select moves and use a potion if HP is low? Has anyone looked at the code for various games to see if there's any real AI here at all? [link] [comments]

Something that has always bothered me about Pokemon since the introduction of customizability... Posted: 28 Nov 2019 04:13 AM PST Is how later into the game when your character is all pimped out how your rival still wears the same stuff. I don't know why this bugs me a lot but it does. When I got to Wyndon and I bought the motorcycle jacket and all the flashy stuff, it felt weird to look at Hop still wearing the same stuff. [link] [comments]

The Hoenn sea Routes might have been a better Wild Area, and they are 17 years old. Posted: 28 Nov 2019 02:43 AM PST Not to say that I don't like SW/SH, but man did the wild area age quick. It's just a big route with nothing to "explore" and you have to wait 4 days for the weather Gods to allow you to catch the ones you want. And to catch all the Pokemon you have to visit the same spots again and again every single day! Having roaming Pokemon Evolutions and Raids could have been in other areas of the game as well is all I am saying. Also this reminded me that Routes 124-134 had a bunch of actuall dungeons and diving puzzles in a big and monstly continious area where half the Pokemon of the Hoenn region live. And also probably some of the best towns and locals of the Pokemon Games amongst it all. Also Mirage Islands, though only in ORAS. I am sorry to say but "exploring" the wild area as it is now takes 5 minutes. That abandoned keep in the wild area could have been an interesting place to discover like the Old Chateau. Or say they didn't want to design a new dungeon. Why not have some text on the side with an interesting puzzle like the one the Regis had? This to me is the biggest fault of this and newer generations, not really lack of Pokemon, but lack of exploration. I'll take back the HMs in a heartbeat (though that would be dumb) to have this kind of Pokemon experience again. [link] [comments]

So, when are fans going to start asking for a new Pokemon Battle Revolution for the Switch? Posted: 28 Nov 2019 03:33 AM PST Given the current trajectory of how the mainline games (the classic Pokemon Adventures), and with the introduction of Pokemon Home around the corner, the time could not be better for the reintroduction of Battle hub game like Pokemon Battle Revolution. PBR had everything that people could hope for in a more challenging Pokemon Game, focused on Battle Frontier-style scenarios, good matchmaking and much more dynamic battles where could not just simply grind their way through. Admittedly I'm sceptical that it will happen, but seeing how it was originally an outsourced project, could you imagine having a regularly updated Switch App with new challenges that act as the proper post-game challenge of each gen with rotating tournaments, where new models can be added and old features can return for timed tournaments. A game that can be returned too that can allow a studio hungry to make a console Pokemon game where everyone is there and the focus is solely on the battles whilst Game Freak sit in a corner and eat curry or whatever the focus of the next game is? Or I don't know, a game I'd actually be happy to pay a subscription for? One can only dream... Edit: Of course a coloseum would be more ideal, although I'm not getting my hopes up.
