This week's Pokemon is Rillaboom!

#812 Rillaboom (Japanese ゴリランダー Gorirander)

Drummer Pokémon

By drumming, it taps into the power of its special tree stump. The roots of the stump follow its direction in battle. The one with the best drumming techniques becomes the boss of the troop. It has a gentle disposition and values harmony among its group.

Rillaboom's Base Stats:

HP: 100
Attack: 125
Defense: 90
Sp. Attack: 60
Sp. Defense: 70
Speed: 85

Introduction:

He has no style, he has no grace. This Pokemon has a funny face! Rillaboom is one of the more interesting starter Pokemon, having access to the ability Grassy Surge to boost its Grass-type moves and gaining a signature move in Drum Beating to lower the opponent's speed by one stage. Furthermore, with a good attack stat, decent bulk and passable speed, Rillaboom seems like a solid Pokemon all around. So what gives? Well, as good as its coverage may seem, it has no way of dealing with Flying types whatsoever. It doesn't get to learn Stone Edge or anything like that. Rillaboom also lacks reliable recovery outside of Grassy Surge to help with its decent bulk. Rillaboom isn't a bad Pokemon by any means, but being completely unable to deal with a rather common and crucial typing can prove critical.

How viable do you trainers think Rillaboom is? Is there anything else you think it needs in order to be a good competitive Pokemon (e.g. new moves, stats, abilities or typings)? What is its most optimal set?
