Why isn't there a Pokemon game where YOU get to be the Gym Leader?

    Posted: 22 Jun 2020 03:48 AM PDT

I'm picturing it as something like a cross between Pokemon and Animal Crossing. You move to a new town without a Gym and slowly transform an old dilapidated building in to your future dojo. As you progress you unlock more items that you can use to decorate your Gym to make it fit your chosen theme exactly.

You'd also have to manage your team of Pokemon. But instead of just levelling them up by battling other Pokemon you'd train them via a serious of minigames that increase their stats. Then you'd have to battle any would be challengers that come to your Gym.

Maybe an endgame goal would becoming such a successful Gym Leader that you get invited to join the region's Elite Four!

Edit: Just to clarify I'm picturing this as a spin-off rather than a feature in the mainline games.

To the guy who gave me back my Zacian yesterday!

    Posted: 21 Jun 2020 01:22 PM PDT

I was trading pokemon with a friend to complete the dex. So we link the trade, and I trade in my Zacian for his Bulbasaur. The trade then ends and my friend tells me "when are you going to give me your Zacian!?". That's when I realize I had traded my Zacian to a complete stranger

It was a longshot but I set the same code again to trade. And found the guy! AND HE GAVE ME MY ZACIAN BACK!!!!!

Dear fattygords, if you're reading this and you ever need any pokemon you just ask me, I'll have an egg ready asap.

P.S. my friend and I burst out laughing in awe and agreed nobody would ever believe us this happened.

Theory: The reason why there is no evil organization in Galar is because Leon wiped them out before.

    Posted: 22 Jun 2020 09:43 AM PDT

In most pokemon game, there is an evil organization that want to destroy the world but the champions didn't do anything to stop them. Compare to other champion who are mostly on the sideline and let the player do everything, Leon on the other hand, takes care of everything and doesn't let the player knows.

So Leon is basically the superhero of Galar and many people praise him not only because he is the champion but also he is the protector of Galar.

A superhero will try to protect everyone and because of that, they don't want other people to interfere unless it is necessary because it may dangerous for them so they decides to hide everything from them, like what Leon does during your journey.

If you ever feel useless, remember repels exist in sword and shield

    Posted: 22 Jun 2020 04:57 AM PDT

That being said i super love this new system, because i hate random encounters with a passion i thing is an outdated mechanic that belong in the past, and i'm glad pokemon nearly got rid of it.

I like it because is a good balance that i don't need waste my time with countless encounters for something that has no rights to be harder to find than a legendary, while also be able to fight only the pokemon i care about.

the only pokemon that does this is stonejourner and sinistea but that's about it, 2 out of the 400 pokemons, rather than sun and moon where half of the dex are basically stupidly RNG reliant and not the fun kind.

One thing Pokemon has Recently been Getting Right, the Regional Bird Pokemon.

    Posted: 22 Jun 2020 07:47 AM PDT

The recent generations have really been experimenting and succeeding with their regional bird pokemon. The regional bird Pokemon can almost be considered a second starter, alongside the regional bug, and normal type of the region. I think that the bug types have also been handled well, but not as well as the birds have. And for the normal types, it always feels like its more of the same.

Gen 1-5: Copy and paste formula - From Kanto to Unova, the bird Pokemon of the region was generally the same. Besides Hoothoot and Taillow, it was a 3 stage flying/normal type pokemon. They were always included because this was most likely the Pokemon that you would use to fly around the region. There was never really any experimenting with them besides giving a little bit different stats and movepool. You could always count on your bird to be a reliable member of your team and each generation never really improved on the last until...

Gen 6-8: Experimenting with Individuality - Talonflame is still legendary to me and many other players. It was the first regional bird Pokemon to NOT be flying/normal. It was flying/fire and even though I took Charmander as my Kanto starter, I still used Talonflame because it was soooo cool to be able to use a regional bird Pokemon that was unique. Gen 7 was another flying/normal, but Toucannon had a very different look to any other bird Pokemon introduced so far AND has a cool unique move. Gen 8 tho... damn. Best bird Pokemon by far. Corviknight is so badass it makes every other regional bird pokemon look like a bunch of wimps. Flying/steel is a type we've seen before, but damn Corviknight does it justice. His design js just so badass that it doesn't even seem like a regional bird. It proves that recently, GF has been trying to improve the regional bird pokemon from all looking the same and acting the same to each one being unique. I can only imagine whats in store for the next region, and I really hope they continue to improve on the regional bird pokemon.

    Pokemon NPCs really bother me

    Posted: 22 Jun 2020 08:56 AM PDT

I started loving pokemon games recently, but there is something that bothers me every time I play: The NPCs

Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining about those annoying trainer battles and stuff, I kinda like it, I'm actually talking about the main NPCs of the games. It's ridiculous how they behave in most parts of the game! Let me give you an example:

After beating Korrina in the gym, and in the Tower of Mastery (Pokemon XY) she stands at the top of the building, tells you some stuff about love and pokemon and yada yada. Then you leave the tower and follow your adventure. The problem is: If you go the ball to the same exact tower after completing all the major events of the game, she is still there, same dialog, same pose, nothing changes, the same goes for her grandpa.

This is just one small thing I'm using as an example, there are some other stuff that could be changed in the games like rival battles (admit it, you wanted to lose on purpose to Serena because you started to feel sad for her)

Well, enough said, at the end of the day I still love pokemon games, I guess it bothers me that way because I'm used to playing games like Undertale and other RPG games where your actions affect the NPC's behavior a lot.

I would love to know your opinion about this too, I'm not the only one who thinks the NPC interactions could improve, right?

Theory as to how Leon got his Charizad

    Posted: 22 Jun 2020 01:10 AM PDT

So in the Isle of armour, after you complete the first trial, you are given the choice between Bulbasaur and Squirtle, and the reason that you don't get to choose charmander, is because you already have one, so nobody would choose that, but my head cannon is that Leon took the charmander, like your choice in between the 1st and 2nd trial, and then you got to choose between the others

Help me beat my kid please!

    Posted: 22 Jun 2020 09:16 AM PDT

My 12 year old son has a fighting/electric deck that he always beats me with. I have a mewtwo deck that I got in one of those premade boxes. I've added some mewtwo ex and gxs to it, but I feel it can be a lot better. It has psychic and fighting in it. Unfortunately, I don't know the cards/mechanics well enough to make informed decisions on what cards to get to make it better. I'd like to keep it mewtwo based, and it seems like I need cards that will help me get energy out faster. I don't need to obliterate him, but I'd like it to be a fairer fight. Card suggestions that I can pick up would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

I found an “ancient” Pokemon website

    Posted: 22 Jun 2020 12:42 AM PDT

It's called Azure Heights, last updated on 30th December 2004 with its earliest recorded update dating back to 8th February 2000. It's pretty neat. It doesn't even have Dark or Steel types anywhere on the website. There's even a "myths" tab that goes into detail about Pikablu theories. Remember when that was a thing? Me neither. The link is [here](math.miami.edu/~jam/azure/index.htm)

EDIT: the link isn't working for whatever reason, but you should be able to find it by just searching "azure heights"

EDIT 2: it's also made by the university of miami, apparently. weird.

Easy way to get wishing pieces. Isle of Armor

    Posted: 22 Jun 2020 12:18 PM PDT

Don't know if this has been known or shared here before so apologies but I haven't seen it yet. Instead of spending all your watts on wishing pieces, there's an easy way to get them with the cramomatic.

You probably have a ton, and I mean a ton of dynamax candy. I know I had over 400. Just combine 4 of them to get a dragon fang. Then combine 2 dynamax candies and 2 dragon fangs and get your wishing piece. Sure its a little bit of rapid "A" pushing but it saves you 3,000 watts per piece and you probably already have way more dynamax candy then you know what to do with.

In your opinion, and besides Whitney’s Miltank, what is the hardest individual enemy Pokemon in the main-series games?

    Posted: 22 Jun 2020 09:38 AM PDT

For me I always think of Clair's Kingdra in HGSS. Having no super effective type matchup is always frustrating, but couple that with a solid offensive typing, a crazy strong Hyper Beam, and the ever-annoying Smoke Screen, it'll surely take at least a few tries. Another one that comes to mind is Fantina's Mismagius in Platinum. What do you guys think?

    Why Falinks has First Inpression

    Posted: 22 Jun 2020 01:08 PM PDT

What typing did you think Falinks was when you first saw them? Bug? Me too.

What typing is First Impression? Bug.

Most people's first impression of Falinks was that they are a bug.

Genius. One of my favourite pokémon with such a cool backstory for my favourite move on them.

    Cram-o-matic brings the DLC down.

    Posted: 22 Jun 2020 12:39 PM PDT

I've liked the isle of armor but if the apriballs were supposed to be a selling point, well maybe they should raise the odds, I've shook every tree every day and used 4x of every apricorn and the "best" ball I've gotten is an Ultra ball or Timer ball. Why make the odds THAT dismal? OH COOL ANOTHER POKEBALL! Not like I couldn't buy 99x of them. Disappointing to say the least hopefully this is able to be updated cause these odds are trash.

I just spent my last $5 to be told that all my Pokemon are gone

    Posted: 22 Jun 2020 02:35 AM PDT

It's been a really long time since I logged into Pokemon Bank, largely due to the fact that for over a year my 3DS needed a new battery and monetarily speaking it just wasn't high on my list of priorities. Tonight it finally occurred to me that I should get around to transferring all my Pokemon from previous generations to Pokemon Home, so I got everything set up on that end, but once I opened Pokemon Bank on my 3DS it informed me that my pass had expired and in to proceed I need to purchase a new one. I barely had enough in my account since I'm still waiting for a Venmo transfer to go through, but I just wanted to get it over with so I went through with it. I spent my last 5 dollars in the hopes of moving all my old friends into a new home, but instead I was confronted with a message that there are no Pokemon to transfer. I've been playing Pokemon for the past 12 years of my life. Diamond was the first game my parents ever got for me, and every new generation I would transfer all my existing Pokemon into the new games. But now just like that they're gone. 12 years of starters, shinies, special events, and everything in between, ripped away from me with nothing to show for it but another entry on my bank statement. Am I overreacting? Maybe. But that doesn't change how distraught I am at the loss of hundreds of Pokemon that represented happier times. Rest in peace my friends, and know that I loved you.
