Pokémon should get rid of trading evolution

    Posted: 04 Jul 2020 12:59 AM PDT

As stated in the title, I think that Nintendo/Game Freak should drop trade evolution in future games especially now when it requires getting Nintendo online subscription. It's enough that you have to search for certain Pokemon and items that they require to evolve but then you have to trust someone that they won't steal your perfect iv bred shiny.

There is no point of trade evos if you can't do them. What do you guys think?

Edit: Just to clarify for some people here. I'm a grown-ass mf and none of my friends have Switch let alone Pokemon game. I'm from a country where people only ever played Pokemon Go because it's free. So cut the find a friend bs...

What's everyone's one Pokémon that you actually love but everyone else hates so you're always embarrassed to admit you actually like it.

    Mine is Pelipper

I'm not really sure what it is about it I've just always had a soft sport for it.

Words words words words words words I had to make this 50 words somehow haha

An incredibly minor thing that is severely underrated in Sword and Shield...

    Posted: 04 Jul 2020 10:56 AM PDT

The way characters throw their Pokeballs when Dynamaxing!

Some of these ooze character so much, and it's such a small thing that I haven't seen discussed anywhere.

Let's go over some of them.

Milo hugs and gives a pat to his Pokemon, showing how tender he is and how much he cares for them.

    Nessa is determined yet calm.

Kabu collects himself, then as he throws the ball, his eyes glint with fire! That's one of the coolest things I've ever seen.

Bea has very precise movements, like a trained fighter.

Allister almost lazily tosses it, while gazing at the Pokeball with near reverence. It's a very ghost-like thing to do.

Opal acts almost bored, like she's done this so many times (which she obviously has), but then almost drops the ball as it increases in size, because of her age.

Gordie acts like he thinks he's a badass kid, which is reinforced with his demeanor and the flips he does when sending out normal Pokemon. He even poses at the end. Hilarious.

Melony gives a little nuzzle to her Lapras, like the matronly figure she is, especially as she is Gordie's mother.

Raihan might be one of my favorites. He shows pure glee as he prepares himself, then as he winds up, he takes a selfie with the Rotom phone flying about.

Marnie has a very laid back throw, not much to say here

Hop is another great one. Not only is it a recreation of Leon's throw (his idol), but he's giddy with excitement. He's been waiting for this his whole life, and it comes across like he rehearsed it several times. But when he finally lets go, he trips over himself as he throws. Phenomenal.

Oleana has a face of rage when she's Dynamaxing. But even so, she still shows love to the Garbodor. As she was poor as a child and her Trubbish was her only source of comfort, this fits amazingly.

Rose gives the player a fleeting stare, a "I don't want to do this" look, even though he knows what needs to be done.

Bede also has very precise movements, and he's smug while he does it. He acts confident, with a very holier-than-thou attitude.

Leon smiles as he throws it, cause he's still having fun, even though he's down to his last Pokemon. He's enjoying himself, and he watches as it soars.

Klara is again, fantastic. She makes a cute face as she prepares herself, trying to seem innocent. She even winks and blows a kiss to the camera, acting like the entertainer she is. Fitting for the poison type trainer to have a honeyed exterior, only to be toxic underneath.

Avery doesn't even touch the ball once. He uses psychic powers to levitate it and throw it into the air, and he acts smug while he does it.

Mustard just exudes pure power. The rage and energy that courses through him really shows, and its in that moment you realize how strong he really is. His eyes and expression really deviate from the expectations you had of him beforehand.

Honey acts casual and businesslike. That's fitting, as she's the real head of the dojo behind the scenes. As she throws her Venusaur or Blastoise, she fixes her hair to make it up to scratch, before launching that Pokeball with incredible force.

Like I said, almost all of these throws are incredible, and really echo the people behind them. I'm not saying this is some life-changing feature, but was really cool when I noticed it, and I didn't think it was mentioned a lot. Hopefully there will be more of these in Crown Tundra, and maybe we'll even be able to choose/customize our own! How cool would that be?!

Cynthia should be the standard not the exception

    Posted: 03 Jul 2020 04:17 PM PDT

I just beat our favorite unbeatable champion and his charizard the other day but honestly I don't feel like anything changed. I wish I could go back to days when Miltank was gods right hand and Fantina his left. Cynthia had a fully IV trained team with diverse typings and movesets to overcome what's stopping is from getting another powerhouse champion that actually makes you feel like you earned the victory?

Leon isn’t easier than Cynthia, you’re just better at the game

    Posted: 04 Jul 2020 10:06 AM PDT

(It's formatted like this because I'm writing this in mobile) Everyone are saying that they're making champions easier, but they're not. Examples are shown especially with Cynthia, and they're objectively wrong. Look at these two links, ones Leon's and ones Cynthia's:

    https://m.bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Leon

    https://m.bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Cynthia

As you can see, Leon's Pokémon are higher levels, with the exception of one Pokémon of hers, which is Garchomp.

You can say that Cynthia has an item on him, but Leon uses Dynamax so it really evens it out. A lot of people point that Cynthia has a "super diverse" team, but she really doesn't. She has two Pokémon with 4x times weakness, one to Ice and the other to Grass, which also two other of her Pokémon has a weakness to each, so a Pokémon with both types, or both moves (like Abomasnow) can basically overthrow more than half of her team.

Meanwhile, Leon has different teams depending on the starter you chose, with the Effective starter, and one (for some reason) weak Pokémon of its type. Two of his teams also have two Pokémon with 4x times weakness to a type, but almost all of them don't correlate to the teammates' weaknesses. And rhyperior also has the ability Solid Rock, which makes his 4x times weaknesses to only 3x.

One thing Cynthia has on him, is that she has a Pokémon with no weaknesses, which I can't counter that. You also can't say stuff about their moves, causes they (almost) all have coverage.

I can definitely say that SWSH is objectively easier in some aspects, but is really not in the champion department. So if you say she's harder than Leon, it's just that you're better at the game.

Today is the day I finally completed my Living Pokedex!

    Posted: 04 Jul 2020 02:45 AM PDT

It only took me about 5 years, 10 games (X/Y, OR/AS, S/M, US/UM, SW/SH) and a heck of a lot of help from friends and the internet. Pretty stoked to have finally completed this!

2021 will definitely be call the year of the pikachu

    Posted: 04 Jul 2020 06:23 AM PDT

Next year is the pokemon's 25th anniversary and is also pikachu's dex number.

there's definitely something going on next year.

but my big hope is not really a brand new pokemon game, or even a remake be it let's go or not.

my real hope is that they could remaster all pokemon past pokemon in their original state on to the nintendo switch.

even the DS/3DS ones, being optimise to single screen display(if twewy can be turn into a full mobile, then pokemon definitely can)

aswell as added new features like also being able to trade online, bring back wi-fi plaza, dream world, BW can finally plant berries, mystery events can finally be seen like the arceus event finally unfold.

maybe we can have bonus features like art books too.

I feel like glalie gets a bit overshadowed by froslass

    Posted: 04 Jul 2020 05:07 AM PDT

I love both Pokémon, but why did froslass not get a mega. But I always see people completely overlooking glalie compared to froslass, it's kind of sad since glalie is a pure ice type one of the worst standalone types, but I think he should have had another type like dark, rock, or even psychic. Plus he only has 80 base stats all around so it's not that great for him. Then his mega isn't that great, he doesn't do that good in competitive. but I still love this Pokémon manly because he was on my Pokémon emerald play through. So I would like to hear some thoughts on glalie.

Going to give sun and moon another try.

    Posted: 04 Jul 2020 08:16 AM PDT

I played moon back in 2016 and really didnt like it. Not really sure why and never really understood why people liked it. The removal of gyms replaced by trials seemed really weird to me as the trials seemed a lot more gimmicky if that makes any sense. Also hated how you could only fish in certain areas (i know im nitpicking but it just all seemed weird to me) The game as a whole just felt really limiting in my opinion. But, Ill give them another try as it has been 4 years and since then ive played sword and shield so maybe my opinion will be different. Ill post again when ive finished the game.

    Spicing yo the Elite 4

    Posted: 04 Jul 2020 10:24 AM PDT

I don't know if anyone posted anything similar before but here goes.

I think it would be really awesome if the next set of Elite 4 is not type based but Weather based. One of them can have Rain and another can have Hail and then Harsh Sunlight and Sandstorm. Their Pokémon would all have abilities to either induce their specific weather condition or be benefitted from the weather (Dry Skin, Chlorophyll, usage of Blizzard, etc). I think (IF the AI is good), it can lead to more interesting battles.

I believe focusing on the weather instead of monotyping the Elites would cause players to just sweep an entire team with one Pokémon that does Super Effective damage against their type and maybe be technical on their own such as perhaps setting up their own weather to counter theirs or maybe use Golduck for Cloud Nine and what not. The opposition can also get items such Damp Rock, Heat Rock, etc which prolong the weather. Heliolisk would be an interesting Pokémon to see since it can get Dry Skin, Solar Power or Sand Veil. A Rain team can exploit Thunder and Hurricane along with beneficial abilities while we might see Grass types with Chlorophyll in a Sun team in addition to Fire types and they'd be running Solarbeam and what not.

This idea popped into my head when I first battled Red in HGSS and Blizzard from his overleveled Lapras and Blastoise were harassing me in the Hail. Later I found out that Raihan has a Sandstorm exploiting team which was a nice change of pace so it gives me hope that GF just MIGHT do something unique. Another idea is the usage of the four terrains. Especially now that some of the new moves introduced in the new DLC gets boosted from different terrains along with the fact that some Max moves induce terrains (or maybe if they return Z moves later on).

Ofcourse, if the 4 members get the 4 weathers/terrains, I don't know what the Champion might get, Trick Room perhaps?

P.S. Just realized the typo in the title, I meant "Spicing up* the Elite 4"

Wait... If Sharpedo is that fast, I'm afraid of Garchomp too now.

    Posted: 04 Jul 2020 07:54 AM PDT

First, we all know about the annoying Sharpedos roaming at the seas of the Isle of Armor. Firstly, Garchomp is returning in the Crown Tundra, and it might be caught directly in the wild like other pseudo-legendaries like Tyranitar, Kommo-o... Looking at the bulbapedia, Sharpedo's speed is 95, but Garchomp's speed is faster, 102. Also, in the Pokedex, most of them say "IT FLIES AT SONIC SPEED." Imagine you are at the Crown Tundra, and you see a Garchomp. It spots you, then it dives to the snow/sand(if there are any deserted areas there), or even flies and CHASES YOU AT SONIC SPEED. I think it's scarier than those Sharpedos.

Did anyone else used to name their rivals after people they disliked IRL as children?

    Posted: 04 Jul 2020 10:30 AM PDT

When I was really young, like 8 or 9, and was getting into pokemon, I would always name the rival after this guy I really hated, lets call him Bob. I did this in pokemon White 2, Black 2, Black, Soul Silver, Platinum, X, Y, and Red. Did anyone else do this?

    Best moveset/build for Wooloo?

    Posted: 04 Jul 2020 09:13 AM PDT

So I just managed to get my Shiny Wollo (after like, 3k+ eggs...) and now I want to level it up and use it for like, random battles and stuff. I know its weak and not gonna be that good, but its one of my favorite Pokemon, so I just want it ready anyway.

From what I can see, I could go with an Attack build, with EVs in Attack/Speed and just attacking moves. I will be weak as glass sure, but could be fun. The other path I could go is a defensive direction, what with Cotton Guard and Fluffy ability. Not sure what moves to give it outside of that mind.

Some Pokémon I like, but everyone else hates.

    Posted: 03 Jul 2020 11:20 PM PDT

Watching Pokémon videos, I can't help but notice there are a lot of Pokémon that a lot of people really hate... and I just don't see why. Here's my unpopular opinions about these Pokémon (in no specific order).

    1. The Vanillite line - Vanillite and it's evolutions are the most common examples used by fans to point at Game Freak "running out of ideas". A lot of people look at the fact it's an ice cream cone with a face and get really put off by that. However, contrary to popular belief, Vanillite is actually not an ice cream cone. It's an icicle. The part that looks like ice cream us actually just snow that they use to decorate themselves with. We even see in the Pokémon manga that the snow can be melted off. Plus, even if that wasn't true and Vanillite really was just an ice cream cone with a face, I think it looks really cute. And yeah, Vanillish and Vanilluxe do look kinda dopey, but I also find that just as adorable. It gives me a vibe of "I have no idea what's happening, I'm just happy to be here". I love it.

I think what gets me the most about people who criticize Vanillite is that plenty of other Pokémon do the exact same thing and I never see anyone complain about them. Swirlix is just cotton candy with a face. Milcery is just a bunch of milk with a face. Alcreamie is just a pile of cream with a face. Why do these Pokémon get a pass?

    1. Trubbish and Garbodor - In much the same vain as Vanillite, Trubbish and its Evolution are often pointed to as examples of Game Freak running out of ideas for Pokémon. I think the reason I enjoy Trubbish as much as I do is because of an episode of the Black & White anime I watched as a kid. In the episode, a Day Care worker is worried about the kids keeping and playing with a Trubbish in their tree house. Ash is sent up there to try and convince the kids to get rid of it, but ends up actually sympathizing with Trubbish. The poor Pokémon just wanted a home, it's finally found one where people actually want him, and now he's at risk of losing it. And I can bet it wasn't even the first time something like this had happened to it. It made me feel really bad for it, and because of that, I've grown to really adore Trubbish and find it adorable. Admittedly, Garbodor kinda loses that cuteness, but I don't think it's a bad Pokémon either. I am very neutral to Garbodor, but Trubbish will forever be a cute Pokémon to me.

    2. The Regi Quartet - Regice, Regirock, Registeel, and Regigigas are quite possibly the most hated Pokémon of Gen 3 and 4. But I never understood why, because I think that the Regi's look really cool. Again, I might be influenced from the anime since I vaguely remember there being a time where Regigigas held back a damn glacier with his hands alone, and that was really cool. But even without that, I don't get the arguments behind it. "The Regi's are just hunks of their respective material with a face". Yes. They're golems. That's what golems are. And also, that's just straight up not accurate at all for Registeel and Regigigas. You can clearly see there's a lot more going on there than just "bunch of steel with a face". They look like robots to me. And Regigigas in particular looks like a robot who's been asleep for a really, really long time, similar to how Bastion from Overwatch appeared in his trailer. I dunno, I just think they're really cool looking personally.

Ack, there's definitely more out there, but I'm tired so I'mma end this here. Tell me what you think.
