Anyone else waiting for a Pokémon Game to let you create your own gym?

    Posted: 29 Oct 2020 07:01 AM PDT

I miss when we could create our own hideout and friends could battle there. I think the next step should becoming a Pokémon gym leader, where you can share you're gym ID with others. You would even be able to choose different Pokémon teams to fight trainers based on how many badges they have. I don't know if others have wanted to be gym leaders but it sounds interesting to me.

[OC] Every Pokémon cosplay that I’ve worn over the past two years

    Posted: 29 Oct 2020 07:48 AM PDT

    issa link

My current long term cosplay goal is to cosplay as one Pokémon of each type, then compile pictures of all of the cosplays into a Pokémon Type Chart bingo board. I do have an idea of what Pokémon I'm likely gonna do for each type, but I'm always open to suggestions.

The Reins of Unity weigh exactly 3.1 pounds.

    Posted: 28 Oct 2020 04:24 PM PDT

    Calyrex is 17 lbs.

    Glastrier is 1763.7 lbs.

So together they should be 1780.7 lbs

But Ice Rider Calyrex (which is just Caly riding Glastrier) weighs 1783.8 lbs, which is 3.1 lbs too many. The same thing happens with Shadow Rider Calyrex:

    Calyrex is 17 lbs.

Spectrier is 98.1 lbs. (He's light 'cuz he's a ghost)

Shadow Rider Calyrex is 118.2, which again is exactly 3.1 lbs too many.

The only explanation is that the Reins of Unity themselves are counted in the weight total, and that they weight 3.1 lbs. This is very important information, that I felt should be shared with you all.

Was Peony the one who beat Rose in the champion cup?

    Posted: 29 Oct 2020 03:05 AM PDT

So as we all should know by now, Peony is Rose's little brother. He was also briefly the champion of the Galar League. It's also stated that Peony did not like being compared to his older brother and ended up leaving to become a strong gym leader and eventually the champion.

However when we see Rose's League card, it states that he at some point reached second position at the champion cup.

I have a theory... Peony and Rose were the finalists of the champion cup. Peony, tired of being seen as less capable than his older brother, was determined to prove that he can be stronger than his older brother. He wanted to show the world that, for once, he can be better at his brother at something.

And he succeeded, defeating his brother in the champion cup, and then going on to be the Galar Champion.

But sibling rivalries never end. Rose ended up becoming the chairman, which is a position the game alludes to as being more influential to the league than the champion as evidenced by Bede bragging that his endorsement from Rose was greater than the player's endorsement from Leon.

Rose was once again in a position to be above his brother, and Peony had quit the champion position because of that.

If we look at them now, Peony has a family, quite a significant number of fans around Galar (including Leon), and even has a mentor-like role to the current champion. Rose on the other hand, is now seen as a misguided individual, or even a villain to some people, presumably in a jail cell.

There are some serious paralels between Peony and Doofenshmirtz.

    Posted: 29 Oct 2020 09:49 AM PDT

Firstly he was always compared to his brother.

Where he vent to succede he was followed by said brother. (Danville and the pokemon league reapectively)

He is trying to have the best possible relationship with his daughter who doesnt appreciate it.

He spends a lot of time bonding with some completely unrelated to them. ( Perry the platypus and the player character respectively)

The only flaw of this is that the seniority of the brothers is fliped.

Why Leon was the unbeatable champion.

    Posted: 29 Oct 2020 12:41 AM PDT

It sort of makes sense that Leon was champion for so long when you realize he was pretty much the only person in Gym Challenge smart enough to use more than one type. Every trainer besides you and Hop uses only one type on their team with one or two outliers.

Gym Leaders are pretty much limited to their type. It's almost unfair.

    Who's Your Favorite Regional Bird?

    Posted: 29 Oct 2020 07:26 AM PDT

    The options are:

    Corviknight (Galar)

    Swellow (Hoenn)

    Noctowl (Johto)

    Talonflame (Kalos)

    Staraptor (Sinnoh)

    Unfezant (Unova)

    Toucannon (Alola)

    Pidgeot (Kanto)

My personal favorite is Unfezant, because that was the first game I played, and would love to hear how you guys feel about them. I always find it really interesting to see how the first game we played impacts the pokemon we like or dislike.

How would we feel about Trainer abilities?

    Posted: 29 Oct 2020 08:19 AM PDT

Rewatching some of the series and it seems like there is a narrative that Ash is a special trainer in his bond with Pokémon.

And this got me to thinking it would be a nice variant to the mainline games if Trainer quirks could be earned either based on in-game achievements or simply selecting 1 or 2 at the main menu.

Examples include: "Pokémon become 10% friendlier"

"Ice Types do 5% more damage"

"Pokémon gains ATK IVs twice as fast"

    Things of that nature.

While they could be turned off for competitive battling, it depends on how broken they'd be.

Why is the Protagonist is so special?

    Posted: 29 Oct 2020 07:30 AM PDT

When we look at a typical Pokémon game, it involves a brand new trainer receiving their first Pokémon. That trainer then proceeds to move forward, defeating the gym leaders (who have been training for years), than going on to defeat the elite for and finally the champion. How are they able to accomplish this feat after only just becoming a trainer? Are they the only trainer that knows about type matchups? The only trainer that knows about grinding? Why does no one in the games find it odd that this kid who just started, managed to crush the champion.

Obviously the plain answer is that, it's a game. And the skill of the protagonist comes from the knowledge of the player. But it's still a bit amusing how a child is able to conquer experienced trainers and no one bats an eye

The Crown Tundra DLC and the future of Pokémon.

    Posted: 29 Oct 2020 03:30 AM PDT

So I just finished TCT DLC and I feel there was a lot I liked, and stuff I did not.

I would really like a mini-map in the future if they go the more open world route. Maybe it's the world design of this expansion, but the Wild Area and The Isle of Armor was not this confusing. One thing I loved was the "Quest Cards" for the Main and Side quests. Reminded me of something from a Dragon Quest Xi quest system, but updated as you continued on the quest line. I would love to have a "tab" on the UI and a lot more of this in future.

How to make any Zygarde (Regardless of how many cells it had in sun/moon and USUM have power construct

    Posted: 29 Oct 2020 05:24 AM PDT

    1. Transfer over the Zygarde
    2. Go to stow-on-side
    3. Right next to the pokemon center is are two men and which one of them gave you a beast ball
    4. Talk to the man on the right with Zygarde in the box or party and he will give the Zygarde cube
    5. Go to the Zygarde cube in Key Items and click it, click on Zygarde next, then click change ability
    6. Then that Zygarde would change it's ability to any of its including Power construct
    7. This will work on the Shiny Zygarde that were distributed in 2018

What if every move were an HM?

    Posted: 28 Oct 2020 10:27 PM PDT

Don't get me wrong. HMs are pretty horrible and hinder fun. But what if any move could be used on the overworld for funny things or small sidequests?

A few possible, though far-fetched examples:

Hydro Pump: Pushes NPCs around, eliminates overworld Fire-types on contact, rattles setpieces.

Fire Blast: People become amusingly charred. Allows for temporarily burning down buildings. (Ejects player from building, building is covered with fire textures and can't be entered for a day.)

Teleport: Travels to a random nearby valid location that the player has stood on before.

Dazzling Gleam: Nearby NPCs turn to face away from you.

Double Slap: Prompts generic annoyed responses when used on NPCs.

Roar of Time: Reloads last save.

Thief: Gains varying amounts of money when used on NPCs. Only works once per NPC, prompts a UI message scolding the player.

Bounce: Player bounces offscreen, then lands on the same spot after 30 seconds.

I know this won't ever happen, but I think it's a fun concept.

Is your favorite Pokemon in SwSh now?

    Posted: 29 Oct 2020 07:53 AM PDT

Now that the DLC is all out, there are over 650 Pokemon available in Sword and Shield. However, the remaining ~230 are still completely absent from the game.

If we were to assume every Pokemon has an equal amount of people who consider it their absolute favorite, a majority of people would have theirs in the game already, but that's not necessarily the case. So, purely from a curiosity standpoint, I wanted to see what the spread looked like of Pokemon inclusion. This isn't to prove any points about whether or not Dexit was good or bad or justifiable; I truthfully just wanted to know.

What can be done to make Bug and Ice Pokemon Viable?

    Posted: 29 Oct 2020 12:05 AM PDT

So many Bug and Ice Pokemon are just terrible. They have terrible stats and/or their typing is not very good for a Pokemon to have. Yes their moves can be good(U-Turn, Blizzard, Ice beam, etc.), but if you wanted to run Pokemon that are Bug or Ice your pool is super low. I feel adding resistances to each could help, sadly adding super effective types would help the moves and that could be a problem balance wise for moves like U-turn that a lot of none bug Pokemon have.

    Any other thoughts?

I personally like a lot of bug and Ice pokemon like Ariados and Cloyster, but they just are not very good. sadly.
