Posted: 09 Nov 2020 09:00 PM PST Hello everyone! Welcome to this week's edition of Rebuild Tuesday, a weekly event we're doing along with our Discord! This week's Pokemon is Tapu Bulu! #787 Tapu Bulu (Japanese カプ・ブルル Kapu-Bulul) Land Spirit Pokémon Although it's called a guardian deity, it's violent enough to crush anyone it sees as an enemy. It makes ringing sounds with its tail to let others know where it is, avoiding unneeded conflicts. This guardian deity of Ula'ula controls plants. Tapu Bulu's Base Stats:
Introduction: Tapu Bulu was initially considered the worst Tapu in its group of four. Trainers were not fans of Bulu's typing being grass and fairy due to its many weaknesses (flying, fire, x4 poison, steel, and ice). Bulu's main STAB move is grass, which is a very inferior offensive typing compared to water, electric, and psychic. However, despite Bulu not being the best offensive-wise, it certainly has many resistances and recovery moves, which grants him many opportunities to switch into battle. Having recovery options in Synthesis, Horn Leech, and Grassy Terrain makes Tapu Bulu incredibly tanky. His resistances to Water, Electric, Grass, Fighting, Dark, Ground, and an immunity to Dragon gives a fair amount of opportunities for Tapu Bulu to switch in. Access to Grassy Surge gives Bulu the role of a team support player. The ability is incredibly viable because of its strength to weaken ground-type moves and passively heal Pokémon on the field. Bulu's terrible speed leaves Trainers unsatisfied. The bull can be outsped by more hard-hitting and buffier Pokémon, such as Heatran and Rillaboom. Many Trainers blame Rillaboom for the fall of Bulu from DOU to DUU. How viable do you trainers think Tapu Bulu is? Is there anything else you think it needs in order to be a good competitive Pokémon (e.g. new moves, stats, abilities or typings)? What is its most optimal set? Tapu Bulu on - Bulbapedia | Serebii In addition to discussing how you feel this Pokémon will be in the new meta, feel free to discuss your likes and dislikes about it, be they from your playthroughs of the main series or side games, your success or failure with this Pokémon competitively, any cool fan artwork (with the source) featuring this Pokémon that you'd like to share, or anything else! For those who want to see previous Pokémon covered, you can view a list of our Gen 7 rebuilds here and our current SwSh series here. We'd also suggest checking out our Discord each Tuesday for live discussion on these topics as well! If there are any new Sword/Shield Pokémon (or returning Pokémon with significant changes from previous gens) that you'd like to see featured in future weeks, let us know by sending me a PM with your suggestion! This thread is part of /r/pokemon's regular sticky rotation. To see our rotation schedule and all past sticky rotation threads, go here! [link] [comments] | ||
