    Scizor is just johtonian Scyther

    Posted: 20 Feb 2021 04:15 AM PST

I mean think about it, it kind of acts similairly to a regional form. It doesn't really look like an evolution but more of a different take imo and the most glaring thing to me: Scizor is the only evolution with the same base stat total as its preevolution. I always thought that it worked more like a "form-change" for that reason, at the time johto came out they didn't have the concept for regional forms yet though, so they made Scizor an evolution, while (just looking at BST) not actually making it "stronger" per se.

Of pokemon were real, how would human exploit them?

    Posted: 20 Feb 2021 08:43 AM PST

We all know how it is in our nature to over fish the ocean, over forest trees, have bring to extinction several animals in the past decade a lone.

How would you expert in pokemon believe humans will find ways to exploit pokemons if they were real?

Not only mention how could we used them, I mean exploiting them to the level that an agency should be created to protect pokemon right.

Try to uses their pokedex entries as the grounds of your discussion.

    Have fun with the discussion!

If you were a Gym Leader, what move will you endorse as a TM?

    Posted: 19 Feb 2021 11:54 PM PST

Most gym leaders hand over a move which was essential to their strategy. Now if you were one, which move will you teach aspiring trainers? It doesn't have to be classified as a TM from the core series. The only limiting factor would be moves that are learned only by a specific Pokemon (i.e. Smeargle's Sketch, Signature Moves of Legendaries and the like).

I pick Mirror Coat because (Wynaut?) and for that gratifying feeling from taking out a sweeper with its own damaging move. I also prefer the defensive plays that can turn things around for your team. And also, I just really love the creation of Wobbuffet, its counter strategy and its presence in the anime.

PS: This is discreetly a Wobbuffet appreciation post. ( >﹏< )7

I’ve been thinking about how cool it would be to have a bio pic about Satoshi Tajiri, and the process of making Pokémon red and blue.

    Posted: 20 Feb 2021 04:20 AM PST

I always envisioned it as not only a bio pic, but a tribute to Pokémon fans. The film would show all the way from when he had the idea to when the games released. I always imagined it would use remastered music from the games as it's soundtrack. Maybe it would be an anime movie as well. I honestly want this more than DP remakes.

Internal Battery replacement Pokémon Emerald, important notice

    Posted: 20 Feb 2021 02:34 AM PST

Some of you may be familiar on how time events (berries, lottery, some battles, TV...) on Pokémon Rubi, Saphire and Emerald for GBA work: an internal battery inside the cartridge runs the clock when you are not playing the game.

The thing is when this battery dries out tyou get an error whenever you start the game ("The internal battery has run dry something something..."). To solve this you just replace the battery (there are lots of tutorials on youtube) and that's all.

However this is might not be entirely true: Although after replacing the battery you won't get the error anymore, time events won't work unless you RESTART YOUR GAME (this means deleting your save file and creating a new one)!

What I have found is that, in order to get time events WORKING AGAIN, you will have to wait for 999 DAYS: In Pacifidlog Town there's this guy that will give you a TM based on the frendship of your Pokémon every 7 days. Until you replace the battery, if you speak to him, he will tell you to wait for 999 days, however after replacing the battery the countdown will begin on 999 instead of 7!

So today the countdown reached 0 on my game and this is what I got: - Got the TM from the Pacifidlog Town guy. New countdown reset to 7 days. - Lottery ticket (but lost...) - ALL of the TV events at once with 1 day countdown. (I.e.: every TV related event will take place tomorrow) - Skitty swarm event on Route 116 - A berry I had planted at least 999 days ago grew - Free daily berries from Berry Master

I didn't got yet: - Battle with Wally (Probably not a time event) - Mirage Island

I am also waiting till tomorrow to find out if Secret Base battles are working again. I've had a battle today, tomorrow I will see if I can have it again.

I hope someone finds this useful!

My in universe theory on why certain pokemon are harder to catch and on how pokeballs work as a whole. It's quite long.

    Posted: 20 Feb 2021 10:27 AM PST

A pokeball is designed to convert matter into energy and vice versa. In this case the matter is a pokemon and the energy is the red light that goes into/comes out of a pokeball. And different pokeballs are designed to contain varying amounts of energy.

You'd think that because of the theory of relativity, e=mc2, that the bigger the pokemon the harder it is to catch. But you are overlooking the fact not only are the pokeballs storing the energy of the pokemon's mass, but also any energy that they already have. Things like the chemical energy stored in the carbohydrates, lipids, and proteins of the pokemon's body, the thermal and electrical energy created by certain pokemon, and any other energy the pokemon might have.

So, the stronger the pokemon, the more energy they have. The more energy they have, the harder it is to catch them. And the easiest way to reduce the amount of energy a pokemon has is by forcing it to expend energy in battle.

Certain pokeballs, like the Timer Ball, Quick Ball, and Heavy Ball, have different ways to maximize the efficiency of their energy storage.

The Timer Ball functions like a non newtonian fluid in the fact that it responds to the application of energy and force in ways that ignore certain laws of physics. In this case the Timer Ball functions like ketchup. Ketchup has high viscosity when you apply a quick jolt of force and energy, such as when you tap the neck of the bottle or smack the bottom to get the last little bit of ketchup. But it has a low viscosity when you apply a steady amount of low grade force to it. So, by gradually absorbing the energy released into the environment during battle, it strengthens it's ability to contain energy.

A Quick Ball functions in the opposite manner. It functions like the water and cornstarch mixture that you have probably made in a science class at some point in your life. The cornstarch mixture gains viscosity when you apply a steady amount of low grade force to it and it loses viscosity when you apply a sharp burst of force to it. That's how the Quick Ball functions, it uses the rapid jolt of energy from trying to capture a pokemon the instant battle starts to strengthen itself.

A Heavy Ball works completely different from the Timer Ball or the Quick Ball. It uses the energy of a pokemon's mass to strengthen itself. So the heavier a pokemon is, the more energy a Heavy Ball has access to.

What do you guys think about my in universe theory on pokeballs?

Would love we see another hollywood pokemon movie

    Posted: 20 Feb 2021 06:28 AM PST

Detective pikachu was still great that i wish to have another ride with it..it won't be a detective pikachu 2 since it end quite conclusively.

But that leaves door for so many other possibilities, I pitch before a movie that is basically pokemon red and blue advent children, basically the story between red blue and gold silver which ties the game directly, explaining what was red doing on top of mt silver this whole time, which is actually told in the manga adaptation.

or that fake pokemon snap trailer can also be real as a jurrasic park take on pokemon.

or a mystery dungeon, which is basically pokemon meets ice age.

    I kinda don't get it

    Posted: 20 Feb 2021 03:38 AM PST

The pokedex entries for a lot of pokemon is just straight up scary af. Like for example the pokedex entry for Banette states that "A doll that became a Pokémon over its grudge from being junked. It seeks the child that disowned it" is so scary and weird considering how some of the trainers in the anime even own it and people just act like a walking doll seeking for revenge is a normal thing.

What's the hidden message within Masuda's tweets?

    Posted: 20 Feb 2021 08:07 AM PST

Junichi Masuda is known for teasing game titles. Recently he posted three pictures with a clear, blue sky or some clouds. There are also buildings or trees.

What's the message? I saw somebody talking about how the trees resemble rowans (thus reference to prof. Rowan). The buildings in the background could be something from Jubilee City. And I personally believe that one of the clouds looks like Palkia.

But are we really getting gen 4 remakes?

Thinking of fake signature Pokémon moves, day 122: Galarian Corsola

    Posted: 20 Feb 2021 06:26 AM PST

I am coming up with at least 1 fake move that would be exclusive to 1 Pokémon or an evolutionary line of Pokémon. I am going in Pokédex order, and I will skip every Pokémon or evolutionary line that already has a Pokémon in it that has a signature move. Signature Z-moves or G-Max moves don't count.

Galarian Corsola's move is called Coral Curse, a Ghost-Type Status move with 20 PP. It creates an effect on the opposing side of the field that is very similar to Stealth Rock, but a Ghost-Type variant.

The way this move works is that the user, Galarian Corsola or Cursola, puts a curse on the other side of the battlefield. Cursola is known for causing Pokémon and people to be cursed, it's signature ability is even called Perish Body and it has "curse" as part of its name.

This move is very similar to Stealth Rock, as it deals damage depending on if the targets are weak to Ghost-Type moves or not. Copperajah's G-Max move, G-Max Steelsurge, does a similar thing, but with a Steel-Type variant. So if a Pokémon entering a field with Coral Curse active, they will take 3,125% of their total HP in damage if they quad resist it. If they resist it like normal, they'll take 6,25% of their total amount of HP in damage. If they take neutral damage from Ghost-Type moves, they take 12,5% damage. If they're weak to Ghost-Type moves, they take 25% damage. And if they are 4x weak to Ghost-Type moves, they lose half of their total amount of HP. If the Pokémon is a Normal-Type Pokémon, and thus is immune to Ghost-Type moves, they take no damage at all.

Maybe it doesn't make much sense that this move damages other Ghost-Type Pokémon but both the moves Curse and Perish Song work on Ghost-Type Pokémon, and so does Perish Body, so I don't see a problem with it. Also, Galarian Corsola is known to be a defensive wall, and Coral Curse would only add to its role as such.

I'd love to hear feedback or questions about my ideas, and if you have any ideas for signature moves for Pokémon, I'd love to hear them, I might use the ideas (with your consent of course)! Even though this is a daily thing, or at least, I'll try to keep it daily, I don't think I'll be consistent with the time of day I post another idea.

It was delicious. Super expensive for a 4pk but absolutely insane. Damn near $35 for the 4. Never would I normally spend that much on craft beer even if it was solid gold. But I just had to have one can to keep next to my pikachu/pokemon stuff 😁

can i max affection with an eevee without it transforming into a sylveon?

    Posted: 20 Feb 2021 10:10 AM PST

i've been playing pokemon ultra sun recently, and it came in my mind that in X/Y you could have a sylveon if you raised 2 hearts of affection there, and in ultra sun it have the "pokemon refresh" which works like the poke-amie in X/Y.

so i want to maintain my eevee like that, but i still want to max my affection without it evolving into a sylveon.

    what do i do?

Going through an old card collection

Going through my old card collection and I have a number similar to this where it's in Japanese. So I'm just wondering if anyone has a hunch of how would I have gotten these (I've never been to Japan and I'm from Rural Pennsylvania), are they legit cards or knock offs and are they worth anything?
