What is Your Favorite Music in Pokémon?

    Posted: 25 Jul 2021 08:24 AM PDT

Personally I love "Unwavering Emotions" From Black and White. The soft piano's first notes never fail to make me tear up and it's rolling melody rushes over me like a wave of emotions. This is the piece of music that started making me pay attention to the music in Pokémon, some pieces in gen 4 got my attention but I never sat down and listened to them by themselves without gameplay. Do you feel similarly about a particular soundtrack? I'd love to know what your favorite is.

my crazy idea: A game with only 1 starter

    Posted: 25 Jul 2021 08:47 AM PDT

Imagine getting a normal type starter (kinda like Eevee) that when it evolves allows you to choose it's typing, fire, water or grass, and when it evolves again you can choose again between water, fire and grass. Giving you the option to have crazy type combinations

In the end you could have a fire/water or a fire/grass starter, or a grass water starter.

EDIT: Fire/Grass and Grass/Fire etc. would be the same.

The mon can adapt to your team.

With no particular gym order a mon like that would be even cooler.

I got my mom to play Pokemon and now I respect the games that hold your hand

    Posted: 24 Jul 2021 03:03 PM PDT

Pokemon games that hold your hand like sun and moon or let's go. I respect them. Us as players that have played a long time we Scoff at the tutorials. My mom who I got to play Pokemon let's go Pikachu , however had to study that tutorial. She'd keep me at her side to help her with type match ups and who is effective against who.

    Mom: "they sent out electibuzz!'

    Me: "That's an electric type!"

Mom: "so I send out Vaporeon?"

Me: ....no mom.. electric is strong against water..

Mom: /already sent out Vaporeon/ oh..

She has 4 gym badges. And I'm proud of her

Her team is Vieplume, Arcanine, (which she loves) , Pikachu of course, Nidoking , Vaporeon and a Charmeleon I made her catch early on.

    Cheer on my mom guys!

She use to call me a nerd for playing and loving pokemon and now she will beg for my switch !

    Favorite unused type combination?

    Posted: 24 Jul 2021 10:55 PM PDT

So I know there are more than the ones I listed below but out of these 5 (or other if you wish to chime in) which unused type combination would you all like to see the most. I'm a sucker for bug types as well as ghost types even though we have shendinja but my choice would either be a normal ghost type or a bug dragon (looking at you flygon)

    Dead silence from BDSP?

    Posted: 25 Jul 2021 09:09 AM PDT

Just want to start a discussion, and I preface this saying I am personally really looking forward to the games.

But I'm quite confused as to why we've had virtually no updates about the games since the trailer on Feb 26th (almost 5 months ago now). Usually with these release cycles we would get a second trailer in June, but we're a few days from August and have had no new information – no trailers, no screenshots, no reveals (or at least nothing significant to my knowledge)

Anyone have any good reason why that might be? Could it really be because the games have very little new to show because they're faithful remakes? It's sad seeing the decline in anticipation for the games given the fans have been waiting for Sinnoh remakes for a decade.

Do you think Pokémon should break any of it’s “rules”

    Posted: 25 Jul 2021 10:20 AM PDT

In Pokémon there are certain "rules" or patterns that stay the same in almost every game. For the most part anyways Things like having 8 gyms. Having the 3 starters be water, fire, and grass type Pokémon. Only being able to carry 6 Pokémon. They can only have 2 different types. Their max level is 100 etc.

Ultra Sun / Ultra Moon kinda threw a wrench in this with their trials instead of gyms, and Heart Gold Soul Silver as well (if I remember correctly) with 16 gyms. But anyways, if they were to change any of these standards, what would you want? Should we carry 8 Pokémon? Should Pokémon have 3 types (Lugia can finally be a psychic flying water type, charizard can be fire flying dragon plz game freak) Should there be an elite 6 at the end game? Should mythicals be caught in the base game? Should we be able to catch other trainer's Pokémon?

Interested to see what people say. Probably gonna have some crazy suggestions but it should be fun.

    Something I recently noticed.

    Posted: 24 Jul 2021 04:59 PM PDT

I'm sure most people are aware of the Articuno, Zapdos, Moltres pattern, how the last three letters of their name are One, Two, Three in Spanish. Recently I discovered that there is another pokemon with the One, Two, Three pattern.

    Deino, Zweilous and Hydreigon.

In German/Deutsch, Ein is One, Zwei is two and Drei is Three. It may have been obvious with the heads and I'm sure people know already, but I didn't know until recently.

    Ball-shaped starter middle stage trio

    Posted: 25 Jul 2021 08:08 AM PDT

The evolutions of the starters Tepig and Chespin become round.

Pignite and Quilladin look like a ball. They're the fire gen 5 and grass gen 6 starter mid evolutions. We're only missing a water one.

I hope one day we get a ball shaped water type starter middle stage to complete the collection.

Wartortle is not round enough, we need to go rounder. Ball body with a face.

Just finished the battle with primal Groudon which I usually hate

    Posted: 25 Jul 2021 10:14 AM PDT

I was replaying through omega ruby and was really dreading the upcoming fight with primal Groudon because it usually is such a grind (I don't like using master balls, it makes me feel more accomplished when I actually catch it) but I realized that I had switched up my team this run. Instead of the aggron I usually have, I had a flygon.

Holy crap the fight was a breeze. Precipice blades and earthquake wouldn't hit due to levitate and lava plume only did a quarter damage. I would hit him with earthquake, that would trigger rest, then hit earthquake one more time, followed by a dusk ball. Rinse and repeat until I caught it.

My only worry was managing the burn from lava plume, but other than that, it was incredibly fun and I actually got to listen to that great music without stressing too much.

Anyway 10/10 would recommend. Totally worth dragging a trapinch around for three routes until it evolved

What are some Pokemon you hate but others love?

    Posted: 24 Jul 2021 11:32 PM PDT

For me, Blaziken. Blaziken is just...ugly. I want to like it, I think it could've been a cool design, but it literally just looks like a human in a costume to me, more than any other humanoid starter. It also has the weird ass hair too. Mega Blaziken improves it so much to where I wish that was the default design instead. If you watch the animated trailer for ORAS, there's a scene where May's Blaziken runs up to her to beg for pets (cause she's giving attention to Swampert, the superior Hoenn starter) and it just looks really weird, I dunno. It kinda looks like a middle aged dude in a chicken costume hanging around children

I also dislike Gardevoir because unlike Blaziken where it looks like a human in a costume, Gardevoir literally is just a human. It doesn't even vaguely look like a creature or animal like some other humanoid Pokemon do, it just looks like a human

Last is Greninja. I'm not gonna pretend Greninja is a badly designed Pokemon. I can see why people like it and the strengths of it's design. I also want to like it. But for me...I just don't.. It's not even the tongue scarf for me, it's just other aspects of it's design that kinda mess it up for me. Of course that could just be me being nitpicky with aspects of designs

I’d rather the next gen be good with no new Pokémon, than bad with new Pokémon.

    Posted: 24 Jul 2021 06:25 PM PDT

A good plot, well designed region, and a good challenge is more valuable to me than 100 or so new Pokémon. Especially with where the designs are going nowadays. No offense if you're a fan of them, they just personally aren't my cup of tea.

Plus there are so many different Pokémon that I think we would survive a gen without any new ones.

    Help Omega Ruby Team composition

    Posted: 25 Jul 2021 07:46 AM PDT

Hi all!!! I'm Alvaro, from Spain and I'm a new member of this community.

I have just buyed an Omega Ruby and I have spent some time trying to build a team and with some theorycrafting.

I still have to decide some moves or nature, but my idea is the next one:

    • Blaziken (Fire/Fight)
    • Talonflame (Fire/Fly)
    • Greninja (Water/Dark)
    • Tyrantrum (Dragon/Rock)
    • Gardevoir (Psychic/Fairy)
    • Roserade (Grass/Poison)

Can you help me with some suggestions, recommendations or changes to my team? (I'm thinking about kicking out Blaziken and bringing Frosslass/Gengar/Cofagrigus but I feel bad leaving my starter) Other idea is about substituing Talonflame with other strong bird who can use fly.

    Thank you all!!

How to best level up Pokémon in Fire Red?

    Posted: 25 Jul 2021 03:46 AM PDT

I am trying to defeat the 2nd gym leader and I am getting beat pretty easily when starmie comes out. All my Pokémon are at level 11-19 (charmeleon is lvl 19 but is a fire type so that doesn't help) and it's really slow leveling my Pokémon by fighting wild Pokémon because the highest level is like 10-12.

What are your opinions on the Galarian Legendary Birds? Who is your favorite?

    Posted: 25 Jul 2021 08:17 AM PDT

Do you think that Galarian Versions are better compared to Kantonian Version?

Here's my opinion about the designs:

Articuno: has the cleanest design among the Legendary Birds. It is simple, memorable, and sleek. 9/10
Galarian Articuno: I love how they made Articuno look cool and act chill. I also appreciate the white ends on its wings referencing its snowy background, and the fact that it glows light blue when making a move makes it stunning. 9/10

Zapdos: has a quite messy design with the wings and tail. I love the black parts on its design 6/10
Galarian Zapdos: I like how the concept of speed is still related with Zapdos since it runs now. I like how the eyes and the tips of its claws are yellow, since it goes well with the black and orange. 9/10

Moltres: the concept of it having flaming body parts such as wings and head is good. It just seems a bit confusing to look at. 7/10
Galarian Moltres: This is a huge step-up from the previous design. I love how the flames turned a bit more scarlet and the yellow feathers became black possibly symbolizing it being burnt. This design is impressive. 9/10

I've also noticed that the Galar Versions of the Legendary Birds have the color red mixed to them
Articuno: Light Blue + Red = Purple (Galarian Articuno's Color)
Zapdos: Yellow + Red = Orange (Galarian Zapdos' Color)
Moltres: Orange + Red = Scarlet (Galarian Motres' Color)

Do you actually care about a strong narrative in mainline pokemon games

    Posted: 24 Jul 2021 09:47 PM PDT

Personally, i don't, atleast not in making it the priority of the game, kinda like black and white and sun and moon did, i don't really care about N or lillie's arc at all, or the goals of others.

My real wish's for all mainline pokemon, is to just see a beautiful world to explore, like seeing what pokemon lives here, how they live here, overall like make it a really fun living sandbox, but also be loaded with narrative ideas like historical lore, scenery and characters, but leave the actual narrative to the manga and anime writers for an actual story.

When i was a kid, I used to collect pokémon cards.

    Posted: 25 Jul 2021 08:11 AM PDT

When i was a kid, I used to collect pokémon cards. And I came across mismagius GL lv.X. But when I was checking to see if it was fake, I noticed it was 109/111, but the others are 10/111. So I'm not sure if it's real or not. So if someone could assure me that it's fake I'd be grateful. Thank you.

    Unite plans??

    Posted: 25 Jul 2021 03:41 AM PDT

Now that Unite launched with a rather good success, I might say, are there any known plans?

New pkmn releases? Maps? And is balancing being addressed? (Yes, I'm talking about you Zeraora and any other melee champ). The game is actually more fun than LoL or DotA. I'd be nice to see it getting the support it deserves. And the very small pkmn pool to choose from is a little frustrating.

I like this game a lot and I'm closer to my 30s than 20...

Do Competitive Players Hack in their Pokémon?

    Posted: 25 Jul 2021 10:29 AM PDT

As the title suggests I was wondering if the competitive players hack in their Pokémon instead of going through the painstaking process of trying to get the right one with the correct IVs and EVs. I have seen some use shinies as well and the odds for those astound me. Especially since you have to have specific IV and EVs, have them be shiny, have the correct gender (depending on the Pokémon), have the correct ability, and have the egg moves as well. I once heard that many do hack them in to save time and that makes sense to me. I just want to know if it's true or not.

Ive recently been on the hunt for this answer after getting a shiny patrat and wanting to have it on my legit cartridge. If anyone has an answer please reply because im sure many other people would also like to learn this information.

    Legends Arceus Pokémon forms

    Posted: 25 Jul 2021 10:49 AM PDT

There's no evidence of any of any different forms appearing in legends Arceus, but I hope they do something unique kinda like Galarian and Alolan forms.

Which Pokémon would you like to see get (I'm going to call them) "Ancient forms" or type differences from being in a different time?

I'd like to see the fossil Pokémon lose the rock type maybe make Craniados and Rampardos fighting while Shieldon and Bastiodon is a steel only. Or maybe see like a water poison or water fighting Crogunk line.

Not sure if they're going to do weather conditions or anything but the trailer looked less snowy than I remember sinnoh being so maybe make some of the ice types have a new type like a ground type Snorunt line.

Interested to hear what some of you think.

    Mega evolution vs gigantamax

    Posted: 25 Jul 2021 10:12 AM PDT

My favorite part of X and Y that was not done right in sword and shield is the addition of transformation. XY came with the addition of mega evolution, but none of the new pokemon was given the ability to mega evolve. That was a really good thing because that means the pokemon wasn't made for the sake of using this new and interesting concept. But in galar, most of the pokemon that can gigantamax are from galar. It makes them kinda sloppy. The pokemon should be able to be appreciated both in and out of the new form. That is my thought on the new forms. What are your thoughts?

    Red’s Canon Starter

    Posted: 25 Jul 2021 11:42 AM PDT

I know this topic is overplayed, but which starter do you think Red canonically picked? I personally think Charmander makes the most sense, for a few reasons; In Gen 1, there was art showing with either Charmander or Bulbasaur, to represent the two versions of the game, or just all 3, so there isn't really a Gen 1 canon starter until Pikachu, in Gen 3 he's usually shown with Charizard while Leaf is shown with Venusaur, Masters pairs him with Mega X (yes, I consider the character details from Masters to be canon, even if the events of the game aren't), I don't really consider PokéSpe to be canon, and despite Red only having Venusaur and Pikachu on his Let's Go team ( with Blue and Green having Charizard and Blastoise respectively), there's a card showing Let's Go Red picking Pikachu in Oak's Lab, plus I think Let's Go is in it's own multiverse anyway. But what do you think?
