If charizard was released in gen 8, people would see it as 'just a dragon' Posted: 24 Jul 2021 04:00 AM PDT I think we all know that charizard is one of the most loved and iconic Pokémon of all time. Even though this is the case, I personally believe that a lot of these opinions come from gen 1 bias and nostalgia Many newer pokemon are hated for no reason (like some people hate sinistea because it is 'just a teapot') so that got me wondering, Would charizard actually be liked by genwunners if it was released in gen 8? I personally don't think so Edit: I mean if charizard had the EXACT same design, not if he was recreated for gen 8 [link] [comments]
Posted: 24 Jul 2021 06:32 AM PDT Recently started playing let's go pikachu again and really liked what they did. It wasn't perfect but the Kanto region felt alive. One of the biggest things that I've always felt was odd is that Pokemon size never translated in battles. To see large and small Pokemon in real time amazed me. I know LGP wasn't perfect but it felt like a well thought out remake with a lot of features that everyone wanted for a long time. I wouldn't mind if game freak went int be direction of taking LGP and expanding on it with yearly content updates. It would give the devs time to work on bringing each Pokemon to life and add multiple gens and regions each year. Personally I think it's one way to go but I doubt it would actually happen but what do you guys think ? [link] [comments]
Which of the features would you most want to see in Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl Posted: 24 Jul 2021 05:42 AM PDT I am sure that most of us are quite excited for the gen 4 remakes. Other than the addition of 107 new Pokemon, Generation 4 introduced a lot of interesting gameplay mechanics, such as the underground system, the super contest, and the Sinnoh battle frontier. In most remakes in previous generations, these aspects and mechanics would usually come back in an improved way with new and more fascinating details. Which of the following would most want to see in these remakes? It would great if you could comment on how would you like that aspect improved down below. [link] [comments]
My First Game has at long last Fainted. Posted: 24 Jul 2021 02:20 AM PDT Friends, Trainers, Countrymen- lend me your ears. I come to bury an old friend today, for tonight- my original Pokemon Red version has breathed its' last. I have fond memories of choosing between it and Blue 23 years ago, slotting it into my brand new GameBoy Color and entering a world of adventure and excitement that I fell in love with. I traveled across the land, searched far and wide, and slowly built up a team that reflected myself; even at just 7 years old, the monsters I chose were only for me- my curiosity, my desire for strength and courage, even a budding love of the past spurred me on. Charizard learned every HM I found, becoming the winged dragon every boy yearns to have fly him to new lands. He moved boulders, found and fought fierce foes, and singed my coat- but I still loved him. And then there was the fossil, forgotten, alone, the last of its' kind on earth. I rejuvenated him, taught him how to fly, to breathe the very flames of Hades itself at our foes- and together Aerodactyl and I conquered even the mightiest of Legendary monsters. Those too became ours, the might of thunder and ice complementing my team perfectly. We made mincemeat out of Team Rocket, spent hours to defeat even the great Mewtwo- and hid under the covers from the greatest enemy of all; a Mother curious as to what the not-so tiny light was, shining from under the door in my room after bedtime. Together, we learned to face our adversities head on- and as I walked through the Indigo Plateau, I knew I could handle anything. Endless homework I never understood, bullies and cherished friends leaving far too soon- these things no child can truly conquer. But I could beat the Elite Four- Nidoking smashing through even the feared and mystical Dragons, Aerodactyl proving that even a beast from the land before time was still to be reckoned with(if given Fire Blast). I cheered that evening long ago, and tonight I lay my beloved Red Version to rest. I cannot bear to start a new game or get a new battery- for 23 long years it lasted, and while I will happily play my 3DS Yellow version(and try to assemble my old team), I think Red has earned its' stay in the great digital Pokemon center of lost save files. I hope this strange little eulogy lets some of you, dear readers, reflect on your own experience- and you look back with happy memories. Rest well, old friend. And thank you for the countless hours of adventure, joy, and escape you brought me. [link] [comments]
Posted: 24 Jul 2021 03:15 AM PDT What's some mon that are hated by most that you personally love and for what reasons? For me there's 4 I can think of. Stonjourner - For some reason whenever I see someone talking about this guy they talk about how he sucks. I mean it's not the most creative design but look at him, he just looks like a bro. Trubbish - I never understood why this one got so much hate, it's cute looking and has a solid inspiration. I mean it's literal living trash but at least it's got a sick evo and looks cute af. Vanillite line - Never understood this one either. Alot of people right it off as just ice cream but it's actually sentient ice that decorates itself to look like ice cream so people like it more. It's not the best inspiration but it's decent compared to others out there. In fact, I think vannilite is super cute, and while it's evos names are a bit lazy, that dosent stop them from being decent pokemon in my eyes. Every Ultra Beast - alot of people seem to dislike these guys because "they don't look like pokemom" but that's literally the point. They're pokemon from other dimensions, and as such are supposed to look bizarre and not like pokemon. I think that concept and them themselves are all really cool personally. Anyways lemme know what universally hated mon you guys like, and feel free to criticize me for my poor taste, I can take it! [link] [comments]
Posted: 24 Jul 2021 05:15 AM PDT Dusted off my copy of ruby. Started the game with Torchic, then decided it would be funny to run around with 5 Zigzagoons with pick up until I filled put the party. It went from funny to awe inspiring very quickly. By Petalburg woods, the Zigzagoons had picked up 2 super options, a nugget, an ultra ball, 2 full heals, and 2 rare candies. These dudes are running a Hoenn cartel while I ember things with little Jerry Seinfeld. [link] [comments]
I think Porygon should've gotten popular instead of Rotom. Posted: 23 Jul 2021 09:00 PM PDT Don't get me wrong, Rotom is an amazing concept and a charming design; but for some reason porygon's design and color scheme strike me as a more pleasant companion for your technology in the games. I think it would've been nice if it was at least used for the bike in sword/shield since Rotom was already the phone. [link] [comments]
Why arent the HD 3D models in pokemon home on the switch, but are on the mobile version? Posted: 24 Jul 2021 05:54 AM PDT It seems a bit dumb to not put them onto the switch version. You have all the pokemon organised into boxes that way, and would be nice to have them on a tv and not a phone. Also, then i can see the models of all my pokemon not compatible with pokemon swsh on the switch still and not a dumb 2d sprite. [link] [comments]
What Gen 9 Legendaries and others should be based on? Posted: 24 Jul 2021 10:11 AM PDT Last week, I made a poll of what countries Gen 9 should be based on. Honestly, thanks for the likes. And I apologized if I didn't add your country to the list. Most people wanted a Greek, Nordic, Egyptian, or Italian region. Imade the list based on previous Pokémon entries, lores, popular legends from other countries. Now, this list, what do you think the legendary Pokémon should be based on. PS: I know Greek gods and Roman gods are the same, but the difference is one is Temple based, while the other is Planet based. [link] [comments]
Posted: 24 Jul 2021 10:33 AM PDT Even if Sylveon might be the last one, we pray for more. Cause we always believe Eevee can evolve to the other types. These are the names of Eevee evolutions I came up with. I also wanted to make a Pokémon called Eon. While it's a Normal type, it can use moves of different types. Eon is believed to be the origin of Eevee and its genetic makeup. However, Eevee doesn't evolve into Eon. Which Eevee forms do you want in future games. [link] [comments]
St Ives: Forgotten Pokemon cards fetch £19K at auction Posted: 24 Jul 2021 05:40 AM PDT Sealed Pokemon card sets left forgotten in two boxes have sold for more more than £19,000 at auction. The cards were sold by an electrical contractor from St Ives, Cambridgeshire, after he came across them during a house move. They were sold by Hansons Auctioneers in Derbyshire. The two boxes, which were bought for £30 each about 21 years ago, were sold after the owner researched the "bonkers" prices they could fetch. One, a sealed Pokemon Fossil first edition Booster Box, sold for £10,000. The other, a sealed Pokemon Neo Discovery Unlimited Booster Box was sold for £9,400. Speaking before the sale, their owner said: "It is bonkers, I know, but these are the kind of prices Pokemon cards are fetching now." Both were imported from America and were described by the auction house as extremely rare. The original owner used to run a toy shop with his wife in St Neots, Cambridgeshire, selling Pokemon cards. "When the shop closed, I put some of the unsold cards to one side at home, then forgot about them," he said. "I never imagined they would be worth thousands of pounds today. But there are a lot of serious collectors now and lockdown fuelled the hobby even more." David Wilson-Turner, head of toys at the auctioneer, said the cards were sold to two separate bidders from the UK, who wished to remain anonymous. Pokemon cards were made for children to collect. Packs of 11 cards were priced at £2.50 each. They can now sell for £500 or more. The Pokémon series, created by Japanese tech giant Nintendo along with games developers Game Freak and Creatures, celebrated its 25th anniversary this year. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-cambridgeshire-57927800 [link] [comments]

How long do mega evolutions last canonically? Posted: 24 Jul 2021 05:58 AM PDT I haven't seen any of the new animes and my only references are the games, but they depict it as something that only lasts a short while during battle, which makes sense for balance reasons. However, I recently read a thing about a trainer with a mega Charizard X going around and challenging other trainers with mega pokemon, until he was finally defeated by someone with a mega blastoise. I never saw any mention of his charizard returning to its base form, or transforming into its mega evolution, so I was wondering how long they last in the pokemon world. Thank you x [link] [comments]
Posted: 24 Jul 2021 09:08 AM PDT I grew up with Gen 1 but I didn't have a gameboy so I didn't play until much later. My first game was Leaf Green and then Soul Silver. I loved the updated graphics, gameplay, and most of the original monster designs. Now I have two children who are getting into Pokemon. I'm thinking of getting a Switch for Christmas and Let's Go Pikachu. However, I am amazed that LGFR, HGSS, and Emerald are not available anywhere. Currently I'm playing yellow on my 3ds and plan to play Gold and ORAS afterwards. I can honestly say that if they had rereleased these games on the Switch I would buy a Switch immediately so I could play with my daughters in an easier way. I would be fine with simply releasing the original games on the Switch but it would also be cool to see them done in a 3d style (so long as it would be done well). I've seen the info about BDSP and it looks ok. Does anyone know why they seem to hate on the best remakes in the series? It seems like this would be an easy way to make a profit. How was your experience with Pokemon Sword and Shield? Posted: 24 Jul 2021 10:48 AM PDT So it's been nearly 2 years since Pokemon Sword and Shield came out. And a year since the Isle of armour came out and nearly a year since the crown tundra came out. And I think we all remember the controversy surrounding these games with broken promises and laziness, but Ignoring all that how was your experience. Personally I found the game a blast to play with over 200+ hours on record. And the dlc Just made the game more fun. But even though I got a ton of fun from the game I know some people didn't like it. So tell me your experience and opinion of the game in the comments. [link] [comments] |
