Does anyone else feel that Nebby should have stayed with Lillie in gen 7 games?

    Posted: 12 Sep 2021 12:31 AM PDT

I certainly feel that Nebby should have stayed with Lillie. She protected Nebbie for months and took care of her. And then the player comes and just takes it. That's such a lame story. I think it would have been much better that Nebby stayed with Lillie and then journeying with Lillie the player encounters Cosmog which they use to get their own Legendary.

In S/M Lillie travels to new regions and Nebby would have been a great partner. In USUM it would make even more sense as Lillie actively learns battling and is so central to the story.

It may just be me, but it feels like that story wise it makes zero sense for the player character to get Nebby.

I misjudged Unova and just how good it is

    Posted: 12 Sep 2021 08:03 AM PDT

I'm playing Pokemon Black at the moment. This is my second time playing this game, having played it last in 2013.

Back then, I really did not like the sprites or just how wonky some of the animation looked. Having a limited Dex was also annoying, and because I am not a competitive player, I did not know what were good Pokemon to have. I got my butt whooped in a few different gym fights (Ramona, Elesa, Skyla, Drayden) and the battle against N and Ghetsis.

Revisiting the game, I'm really liking the 2D sprites of the game. The colour scheme isn't jarring like I remembered, it's actually challenging unlike newer games (USUM excluding) and what an absolute banger of a soundtrack.

I see why people hold this game in such high regard now. It is a truly great Pokemon game that got bad user reviews, forcing GF to not be more experimental (in a good way).

Where in the world should the next generation be based on?

    Posted: 12 Sep 2021 03:39 AM PDT

There are still so many real world locations to choose from. Italy could maybe translate into an interesting region. I think a Venice themed town would be cool. There has yet to be a Middle Eastern region (TrueGreen7 is doing a fantastic job). As a Canadian I'm biased and would love a Canadian region. It could totally work. India is a good choice. I'd also take a Mexican themed region with Aztec inspired history. Where would you most like a new region to be based on?

Do you guys think dual type moves would be cool

    Posted: 11 Sep 2021 08:34 PM PDT

By dual type i mean like muddy water would be a water ground type and like blaze kick would be fire fighting type. And by cool I mean like if you'd want them, btw pls say why u picked yes/no. Also what type combos would y'all like to see. Personally I would love to see a ghost/fighting move

    Catching calyrex felt wrong

    Posted: 12 Sep 2021 04:09 AM PDT

The story of calyrex in the dlc was very good don't get me wrong but I after discovering its sentience and talking to him it just felt weird catching it. I actually reflected on the act of catching in general throughout the story and was perfectly content with us just parting ways in the end. I'm not really sure about the back story but I think it's been dormant for quite a while and now it's just chilling in some random box being dormant again until I remember it's existence. Just feels weird. I wish it would have turned out differently like calyrex doing routines in the region or something like that.

What is the undisputed strongest Pokémon and why ?

    Posted: 12 Sep 2021 12:04 AM PDT

This might be a dumb question but i've always wondered.

I've played the first games (blue, red) and always thought Mew was the strongest. I remember playing Ruby and Sapphire, and hearing about a certain Pokémon called Deoxys, but i never found it in the game.

There are so many new Pokémon now that it has become rather difficult to find a definitive answer anywhere on the internet.

So which one is the strongest and why ?

Which game has the postgame you dislike the most?

    Posted: 12 Sep 2021 01:05 AM PDT

In my opinion, Pokémon Red/Blue/Yellow have the worst postgame, therefore I don't like it. I mean, the only thing you can do after the Pokémon League is to explore the Cerulean Cave and catch Mewtu. And that's it. Yeah, you could try to complete the Pokédex as well, but... Good luck with trade evolutions and version exclusives...

Now I am curious if you also dislike the postgame of Red/Blue/Yellow or if you dislike maybe X/Y's post game the most.

(I only included the games with the smaller postgames into the poll. If your choice is not available, vote "Other" and comment what game has the worst postgame.)

What do you think is the most unbalanced Legendary Trio/Duo?

    Posted: 12 Sep 2021 06:20 AM PDT

There are a lot of Legendary Duos/Trios that are meant to be balanced against/counters to each other lore-wise, but oftentimes, in reality, one of them is often much stronger, or in general has a bad match-up against the other/others; Whether it be because of typing, worse movepools, or a worse ability. Which do you think is the biggest example of this?

    Generation 7 games

    Posted: 12 Sep 2021 09:31 AM PDT

Hey guys, I'm going to purchase a Nintendo 3ds and I want to play a pokemon game. Now, I've played X on a friend's device so I am now thinking of buying Sun/Moon and Ultra Sun/Moon. Are those games worth it? I really want to play them but I read that there are no gym battles anymore. Furthermore, Is US/UM sequels to S/M or just alternative versions? Like, do I have to play Sun in order to play Ultra?

    Thank you a lot

Pokemon Y is one of the funniest games i’ve played

    Posted: 12 Sep 2021 10:38 AM PDT

Lysandre's second line is "I would destroy the world than to let it become ugly" and Diantha is just like "Haha, silly Lysandre 😊"

Calem/Serena say "I agree with Lysandre but if you think this is wrong i'll follow you" right after Lysandre attempts to blow up the world.

Right before you fight Yveltal the game just forces you to go through 4 really easy battles just to extend game length.

Every team flare grunt is either scared for their lives and in team flare just to survive doomsday, or is really depressed and suicidal.

I remember so many hilarious team flare grunt defeat quotes but can't think of them right now. If you remember any please comment them.

"Fashion is most important to us!" -🍅

Everybody forgets about the doomsday thing the instant it's over.

Those stupid masked scientists genuinely believe the characters don't know who they are.

The top team flare admin has two pokemon. A crobat that dies in one hit and a fucking sweeper with high defenses.

That's everything i can think of right now after playing the doomsday thing for the first time, definitely an okay pokemon game so far but the humour is definitely saving it.

Does anyone else find it weird that we have never gotten a storyline resolution to the creepy “ghost girl” in X and Y?

    Posted: 11 Sep 2021 02:41 PM PDT

For those out of the loop; in Lumiose city, there's an office building, where the workers say that no one goes up the elevator to a certain floor (if I remember correctly). If you go up the elevator to a certain floor, you'll enter the room. Then the screen flashes black, and a creepy girl that looks like a Hex Maniac trainer appears. She doesn't have a walking animation, but instead glides on one foot. She goes up to the player, says "no, you're not the one," and leaves. She can then be found later on (can't remember if XY or ORAS) listening to an elevator, in a hotel room. She claims she can hear things, but doesn't specify anything.

With how creepy this is, why has this never been mentioned later on? Who is this "one" she goes on about? A trainer? A pokemon? Seems very strange to me.

Personally I would love to see this mini-storyline resolved…whether through a legendary-esque event (darkrai maybe?), or a spin off, or another reference in an upcoming game. Your guys' thoughts?

If you are gonna rewatch the trailer for Legends Arceus, do not watch it on IGN's YouTube channel

    Posted: 12 Sep 2021 10:05 AM PDT

For whatever reason, the second Pokemon Legends Arceus trailer is way more laggy and stuttery on IGN's channel. I do not know what they did to it to mess it up, but either way, keep it in mind.

If you wanna re-watch the trailer (or watch it for the first time), find it on the official Pokemon channel (it's called something like "Discover the Hisui Region in Pokemon: Legends Arceus!") or look up the August 18th Pokemon Presents, which, in case you didn't know, also had some extra information on the game right after the initial trailer.

I did a Red/Blue solo run with Growlithe. It's way worse than you'd expect.

    Posted: 12 Sep 2021 11:01 AM PDT

    Imgur link to final pictures.

There are several things that can hold a Pokemon back. Slow leveling groups can add lots of time to a run. Not being able to beat Brock in a timely manner can slow things down. Having a glaring water weakness to only the second gym isn't great.

All of those things aside, there was one huge hurdle that single handedly made this a slow run. That is Lance's Gyarados. You see, I don't save between Elite 4 members and it will one shot you with hydro pump up until level 77, and that's with good IVs from resetting.

Now, I'm aware if you save between every battle and reset over and over, it may not sound like a challenge to you but this one was really slow. Fire type just isn't that great in Gen 1 and it makes Gyarados an absolute raid boss in the run. Anyways, this one wasn't too fun and slogged on a little too long.

Final victory and final hall of fame picture is in the link along with a link to the video if you are so inclined. A post in my profile will also take you to the video if you are interested as well. If not, that's cool. Glad to share another riveting bad Pokemon solo run as always!

    Getting my mom into pokemon

    Posted: 11 Sep 2021 11:40 AM PDT

One day i asked my mother if she wanted to try and play a videogame. She said yes, but she wanted a game that held her hand in the start, so that she could understand how to play. So i chose Pokemon Sword for her. So today i want to tell you the story of how my mother became a pokemon champion.

Immediately she asked if pikachu was in this game, like every mother would. So, she started with grookey, and decided to not give him (or any other pokemon, for that matter) a nickname. She said that zacian looked like a stray dog. When she saw Yamper, she found it really cute, so when we reached route two, we caught one. My mom started liking yamper even more because it was easy to use (she always used nuzzle and then tackle.) After the second Hop battle she got tired of battling so she was kinda disappointed when i told her that she had to do a lot more of them. While in the wild area she caught a lot of pokemon (basically all pokemon that she encountered), like a tympole, a vulpix and a tyrogue (she also had a rookidee in her team). For the gym challenge she chose number 3. My mom complained about trainer battles, but ran right into every trainer's face. On our way to Galar Mine, she caught a drilbur, because she found it cute. I was in the bathroom and couldn't help her, so she struggled fighting Bede. Then the most wholesome thing happened: we were on route 4, and i told her that here we could find pikachu. After hesitating a bit, she said: "but i already have an electric pokemon, i don't want to put yamper away"... so no pikachu for mom. I decided to not give her advice on gym battles, so it was intresting to see her suddently remembering that grass is weak to flying and sweep with corvisquire. On route 5 she saw galarian farfetch'd and she fell in love with it, because she saw his leek (she is vegetarian). Also she got really exited of the fact that she earned a bike, but in return started disliking team yell. During the water trial, Yamper evolved. (she still liked him, but didn't find him cute anymore) after her second Bede fight tympole evolved, and found palpitoad cute. (she constantly forgot about the fact that it's water-ground and when she remebered it, she was way too attached to let it go) Kabu's arcanine was tough for her, but she managed to win first try. On the wild area Farfetch'd and Drilbur evolved (yes, she liked sirfetch'd even more because of the two leeks). I also caught her a noibat, that she putted in the team instead of thwackey, because she didn't like him. She felt sad for Hop when she saw him depressed on route 6, since she liked his determination. It was about 10 pm when i finally found a fire stone for vulpix, but she wasn't too exited for the evolution (she was mainly sleepy). Bea was overall easy for her. In glimwood tangle she caught the morgrem and putted noibat in the box. Opal's fight was pretty easy, and after that, my mom got a seismitoad. She found it ugly, but strong. The rock gym trial was really hard, especially the last part as she has sight problems, so i gave her a little help when needed. She fought Gordie with ease, and finally, her team was fully evolved as morgrem turned into grimmsnarl. She liked the water bike, but accidentally rushed route 9 so that day we did two gym battles. Piers was easy, but she was annoyed by the fact that the gym trainers were team yell members. Raihan was hard, but mainly just because of sandaconda's glare, really. We spent some time grinding in the wild area, and i found a charmeleon raid. Just like the bike, she was exited about the possibility of having a charizard. So, after doing something that almost looked like a funeral to ninetails, she had a charizard on the team. Nothing worth of note happened while in route 10, so i'll skip to the league tournament. Marnie was easy, Hop was a bit harder (fun fact: in this battle she finally understood that trainers use dynamax when they have only one pokemon left). Oleana's fight was hard for her as she didn't know her pokemon's typings. Bede's battle was really easy, and so were Nessa and Rihan. Bea was a bit harder, but not too much. She actually didn't expect the "Rose is actually evil OMG" plot-twist, even though it was pretty much obvious imo. Again, for her sight problem i had to help her with Slumbering Weald. Rose's fight was really easy, but she almost fainted to eternatus.

Then, finally. The Leon fight. The final battle. Her first attempt was weird. She didn't know some of Leon's pokemon's typings, but still made it to his fifth pokemon. In the second attempt she got to charizard but lost due to Boltund being slower. Then, the third attempt. She memorized the tips that i gave her and the battle went smoothly. Everything was basically a sweep, just haxorus gave her some issues. And then, the charizard. The enourmous fire lizard that once crushed her dreams of becoming the best. First turn, it was a miracle. Boltund was faster, and, within three turns, it was done. Charizard fainted. Boltund levelled up. And after all this days, she did it. She became the champion.

It was really fun. Both for her and for me. Sure, sometimes i got kinda angry at her, and some other times she would get offended because i wouldn't help her in a tough battle, but overall i think it was a great experience that strengthened our mother-daughter bond.

Let’s do an activity based on IRL location.

    Posted: 12 Sep 2021 09:48 AM PDT

Think about the flora and fauna around the area you live in real life. Based on that, what Pokemon would be part of your party?

    Here's mine

    1. Squirtle
    2. Crobat
    3. Stantler
    4. Alolan Ninetails
    5. Ursaring
    6. Corviknight

Could you guess my location or IRL region? Have fun.

What pokeball themes do you use?

    Posted: 12 Sep 2021 10:26 AM PDT

It's no secret that certain pokeballs look better than others on certain Pokémon. For example, a great ball matches Kyogre's colors, and the average Premier ball perfectly complements Reshiram's appearance. What pokeballs themes do you use? I've been doing the dynamax adventures, and I need some suggestions for the pokeballs for legendaries, since, y'know, you need to think pretty hard about what ball to put a legendary in.

IGN was right- ORAS has too much water

    Posted: 12 Sep 2021 08:32 AM PDT

I'm going through a playthrough of Alpha Sapphire, and the exploration of routes 124-131 was a slog. It was such an arduous task looking at the map that I basically quit for a week before mustering up the determination.

For a completionist like me who wants to explore every nook and cranny and make sure I don't miss any trainers and also find every hidden item (they're pretty obvious underwater sometimes), it took me 5 hours to reach Pacifilog town after departing Lilycove. This is WITH repels. I ignored the route 128 story too

I can now understand why some people might like the straightforward paths in SwSh. Open water is stressful-I don't want to miss a good TM just because I didn't hug every corner while surfing and missed a secret diving spot. Also all these water trainers mean my grass mon is overleveled compared to the rest of the team.

West of Pacifilog to go, and I'll finally be done surfing and water types...until Team Aqua AND Wallace that is!

    7.8/10 too much water

Started a Pokémon platinum nuzlock. Looking for fun additional rules.

    Posted: 12 Sep 2021 10:50 AM PDT

As the title says I've started a nuzlock for platinum and besides the normal nuzlock rules I'm hoping to add some extra difficulty and variety to my gameplay. For example these are some rules I've added

My starter must stay in my team of 6

If my starter faints i lose

I can't have two Pokémon of the same exact type (so I can have a normal/flying and a normal type, but I couldn't have two normal/flying in my team.)

To the best of my abilities no one on my team can share moves.

The last rule I added is no Pokémon on my team can be equal to or greater than my starter in level.

I'm looking for rules like these that don't make the game impossible, but add a layer of difficulty to keep it challenging and engaging. Thank you for the help in advance.

The wait for the upcoming remakes has got me feeling nostalgic for when I was waiting for the originals were released. It has got me wondering about all the different genIV pokemon that were sprinkled around in a genIII game.

    Posted: 12 Sep 2021 11:40 AM PDT

Bonsly, Mime. Jr, Lucario and Weavile statues in Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Red and Blue Rescue Team.
    Munchlax event/cameo in PMDRaBRT.
Manaphy egg event in Pokemon Ranger.
    Bonsly in Pokemon XD.
    Munchlax event/cameo in Pokemon XD.

Are there any that I am missing? Or any nods to genIV? I made a photo to go along with this but I can't post images lol.

I can’t save my copy of Heart Gold anymore. Help?

    Posted: 12 Sep 2021 10:20 AM PDT

I finally made it to Kanto, but now every time I try to save the game, I get a blue screen with an error message that reads:

    Error saving data.

The backup memory has failed. The game may be played, but it is impossible to save.

    Please turn off the power.

And then once I try to turn the game back on it loads my last (and final, I guess) save point in the game. I was really hoping I'd be able to finish the game and transfer my Pokémon through Pokémon Home. I know the game is still playable, I just don't want to play it knowing it'll be immediately erased back to this point if I try to transfer my Pokémon at the end.

Is this issue fixable, or am I screwed?

EDIT: Took the cartridge out and blew on it. Works like a charm now. Fixed. :)

I haven't seen these types of pokemon. Would you like to see them in future games?

    Posted: 11 Sep 2021 11:10 PM PDT

As far as I know, I haven't seen these types of pokemon at all in any form of media.

    Normal/Ice

    Normal/Steel

    Normal/Bug

    Normal/Ghost

    Ghost/Rock

    Bug/Dragon

    Bug/Dark

    Fairy/Fighting

    Electric/Fighting

    Ground/Fighting

    Fire/Fairy

    Poison/Steel

    Poison/Ice

    Grass/Fire

    Normal/Rock

    Normal/Poison

I wonder how come they have never made these types of pokemon, after decades since it's release. Especially Electric/Fighting and Ghost/Rock as well as Fairy/Fighting. Which types would you like to see in future games and why?
