I love Tangela's silly little shoes and how goofy they look. Brian David Gilbert from Polygon did an amazing tribute featuring Tangela where he writes and Pokerap including all the Pokemon!

Acquiring Surf was pretty momentous in RBY. There's a little patch of grass at the edge of the sea north of Cinnebar Island where I found Tangela for the first time and I thought it was such a good boy. Then a little further and the route connected back up to Pallet Town. The region opened right with Surf to so many new locations, but even more significant for me was discovering routes connecting familiar places.

What was the most momentous discovery in any of the games? In Gold it was definitely discovering the link between Johto and Kanto which knocked 9-year-old me's socks off.

I couldn't start the game without a shiny starter (yes I'm obsessed). And seen as though the starters were shiny locked I had to pick another starter.

So I'm happy to introduce to you guys my shiny starter! Took me about 6000 encounters and 67 hours (Yes my patience was tested). Eventually I boxed an entire team of lvl 30-40 Pokémon as you can see in the images.
