One "look how they massacred my boy" sprite a day until I run out of sprites Part 2 - Skarmory Posted: 26 Jun 2020 03:05 AM PDT Hi, Pokemon fans, Here's Day 2 in the series of Pokemon whose transition from 2D sprites to 3D models was less than flattering. Yesterday was the potato hippo, today we have the flat iron bird. Skarmory. We have an iron-clad bird who soars the skies - legendary for being able to take 100 physical hits and still stand. When it's feathers fall off, you can collect them and use them as swords or knives. It's a flying razor blade! But, because it's always flying, it looks like a flat iron. Cool. PS SkarmBliss 4 eva. Tune in tomorrow to see who's next. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 26 Jun 2020 08:42 AM PDT This has bothered me for way too long and I can't be the only one who feels that way. Many Dex entries have stated that Shellder latches onto Slowpoke's tail or head and that is what creates Slowbro and Slowking. But... the thing on Slowbro or Slowking's head/tail looks literally nothing like Shellder. Am I alone here? [link] [comments] |

Posted: 25 Jun 2020 02:31 PM PDT Hell, I don't think the Bulbasaur line should've been Poison to begin with, as opposed to the Gastly line where it makes sense. However, the Gastly line learns damaging Dark moves, so maybe Gengar could've become Ghost/Dark in Gen 2 (granted, it probably would've been extremely broken). I don't know, it's such a small thing but it just kinda bothers me. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 26 Jun 2020 05:42 AM PDT By chance, I looked this episode up on Bulbapedia and noticed that it actually first aired in the US one decade ago today! It's crazy to think just how much time has passed since the Pokémon DP anime's run as well as Pokémon's time on Cartoon Network. This episode especially was memorable since it finally explained Dawn's nickname; Dee Dee. Time sure does fly! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 26 Jun 2020 08:26 AM PDT Just figured it'd be great if more people knew and used this information (upvote if you agree): OHKO moves: Guillotine, Sheer Cold, Fissure and Horn Drill remove TWO bars from Raid Bosses' barriers, like Max moves do. They do nothing if the Raid Boss doesn't have the barrier up, sadly, but after the first turn, one knows what one's teammates (save some unpredictable NPCs) do and what the turn order is, making it easy to know whether or not one's attack is gonna strike a barrier or the Boss itself. Ergo, if players spare at least one moveslot on their Raid-battlers for an OHKO move (if possible, of course), Raid Battles can be sped up considerably. All OHKO moves have a type they won't work against though - Sheer Cold doesn't affect Ice foes, Guilloting and Horn Drill do nothing against Ghost types and Flying or Levitating Pokémon ignore Fissure. Here are all fully-evolved Pokémon currently (base game + Isle of Armor update) available in SwSh that are capable of learning at least one OHKO move. [link] [comments] |

Posted: 26 Jun 2020 08:24 AM PDT Here's the final product, and the album in full. Ghost types are my favorite, and I love solving jigsaws. Has anyone else dabbled with jigsaw upcycling? It was pretty dang fun. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 26 Jun 2020 08:54 AM PDT To clarify, I shouldn't want Gen 4 remakes ASAP. This is not what we should be striving for. We need a new director. The current director has made several things clear: 1) He doesn't know what the fans want. SWSH and this subs whole fiasco has made that clear. 2) He doesn't have a good sense of the gaming industry in general (believes mobile gaming is the next step, believed the switch would fail) 3) He's made it clear that he has no problem siding with companies much like Tencent. You all seem to have so many problems with the current direction that Pokémon is going, and yet hope for gen 4 remakes to be "just like the good old days," when Game Freak has made it abundantly clear with their recent ventures that this isn't the direction they want to go. I just think we should direct our focus to pushing for fundamental change, rather than just complaining about the recent direction of Pokémon while hoping the gen 4 remakes aren't going to be in the direction we all know it's going. Just my thoughts, just venting, based on what I've seen, and I'd like to hear other people's insight. Edit: The title is meant to mean, we shouldn't be vocal about wanting gen 4 remakes. Pokemon games get away with doing shady things simply because of the brand name "Pokemon" Posted: 25 Jun 2020 03:29 PM PDT Every single generation there are certain Pokemon that are unobtainable in each game. For example, Zacian is unobtainable in Pokemon Shield. Unless you are willing to part ways with your Zamazenta, Zacian is near impossible to trade for. Imagine if another company did this. Imagine if 2 Star Wars Battlefront games came out, one where Vader was an exclusive character, and one where Kylo was an exclusive character. There would be major backlash. The fact that Pokemon releases two versions of the same game is pretty shady. Just because it has been this way for decades doesn't mean we should lower our standards and expectations for a full price game. Edit: For those that say "trading is one of the main premises of Pokemon", while I do agree with that, the trading in Pokemon is broken. You can't get a Zamazanta without giving up a Zacian and vice versa. The only way to do so is to buy the other version and play through the game again, or transfer your pokemon to home and redo the game. None of these are fair solutions, especially to an 8 year old, the target audience of these games, who just wants to have the 2 newest and coolest pokemon on their team. Edit 2: Another thing I am hearing a lot about is how "it is fair to expect the player to replay the game to get the other box art legend". This is ridiculous. There is no other game in existence that would have this aspect without backlash. Pokemon Sword takes about 20 hours to beat (let's say 15 hours since 2nd playthrough). If you honestly think it's reasonable to expect players to play through the exact same game, for 15 hours, just to get a Pokemon that should already be obtainable in their first playthrough, then please reevaluate your opinion and see it from the perspective of a casual gamer. An easy solution is to put the other box art legend in the postgame. I would make it very difficult to obtain, to keep the rarity aspect of these pokemon. [link] [comments] |

Does trade evolutions bother you guys? Posted: 26 Jun 2020 12:17 AM PDT It certainly does for me. I don't even own a Pokemon game and it bothers me. I have always wanted to buy a Pokemon game but when I discovered that fan favorite Pokemon are only obtainable through trading that kind've annoyed me. The fact that when the online services for a Pokemon game go down Pokemon that could only be obtained through trading are impossible to get. Gengar, Machoke, Alakazam and many more locked behind this and it's stupid. It's easy if you own multiple devices but most people don't so they have to most of the time rely on complete strangers and hope they will be helpful. I know they did this to encourage socializing and using the trade feature but they should've made a way for those who don't want to trade or can't due to the online features being shut down so they can get these evolutions still. I know it seems weird for me to rant about this when I don't own a Pokemon game but when I was looking into getting on this thought popped up and it's going to annoy me when I see a abra or gastly and I have to trade them just to get their final forms. Does it bother you guys? [link] [comments] |
The concept of Pokemon is remarkable Posted: 25 Jun 2020 11:14 PM PDT I mean it's just remarkable that Pokemon exists. Like the concept of catching imagined creatures that can evolve with these circular capsules, that have mostly shared moves, that can be found in patches of grass, by fishing for them, etc. The idea that you go around a whole region of land, battling people that run "gyms" using these creatures, random strangers challenge you, collecting data for a professor that entrusts you with a seemingly expensive piece of technology, foiling the plans of an evil organization, using the creatures to overcome physical obstacles like riding them over water, and then become the champion of the whole region. It's just kind of amazing that Pokemon was imagined, put together as a video game, and loved by millions if not billions of people around the world. It led to more video games, trading cards people spend hundreds and thousands on, toys people adore, some of the best games ever made, spawning iconic characters like Pikachu known around the world, and overall a franchise beloved by people everywhere. Also the fact that it started from Satoshi Tajiri collecting insects in his childhood. That's just kind of amazing and wonderful to me in retrospect. [link] [comments] |
Outline for Pokemon x Story of Seasons (Harevst Moon) Game Idea Posted: 26 Jun 2020 11:51 AM PDT With the recent Doraemon Story of Seasons, I've wondered how other popular series could adapt to the story of seasons (SoS) gameplay. While I enjoy the battling of the Pokemon games, one thing I've always wanted to see more of was pokemon interacting with the world outside of battle. While this idea could become an action jrpg in the style of the rune factory games, I'm going to focus on a more traditional SoS game with the main focus on farming. I'll be using the sos name instead of harvest moon in this outline since sos is the continuation of the old harvest moon series. If you don't already know the story, this article explains the name change. Tools: Pokemon can replace tools to perform tasks that are normally used in the SoS games. Instead of using a hammer to break rocks, steel pokemon can be used. Ground pokemon can help plant seeds. Grass types can be used to enrich the soil and help crops grow stronger. Water types can water the crops. Each pokemon type could have their own uses in the game. Evolution: In the SoS games, tools can be upgraded for a certain amount of money and materials. Instead of upgrading tools, pokemon will evolve to become more effective. After using them to perform tasks a certain number of times, a pokemon will evolve. This will be free of charge, but the pokemon may not be used while it is evolving. A water type that is evolved will be able to water more crops at a type than one that hasn't. A steel type will be able to crush bigger rocks than before. Berries: Berries are an important item in the pokemon series and berry trees and bushes could be grown on the farm. All berries could be used to gain back a tiny bit of stamina for the main character. If specific berries are fed to specific pokemon, it could enhance their abilities or make them more likely to evolve. Cooking berries with other ingredients (including milk from miltanks and eggs from vullaby) will make dishes that replenish more stamina for the main character and further boost pokemon's abilities. It also makes the bond with their "trainer" stronger. Catching: I think pokemon should be in a wild area, like that of sword and shield. Here, pokemon can live in a variety of unique habitats, but the area is still a concentrated and focused area. Since time passes in SoS games, the pokemon in the wild area can change with the seasons. Weather can also affect what pokemon show up. When it rains, you won't have to water your crops. But you might be able to catch unique pokemon in the wild area. Catching them will be similar to the system in the let's go games. Marriage: The biggest weakness of doraemon sos is that the main characters are kids. This removed the marriage system from the game and caused many sos fans to dislike the game. I know pokemon is for kids, but for the game to reach it's full potential, marriage needs to be an option. Instead of focusing the characters around the anime (liking having Ash), the game should have an all new protagonist. A 21 year who retired from pokemon training to pursue farming in a rural area of the pokemon region. This would make the main character eligible to marry while also connecting his story to pokemon training and battling. The marriage candidates could be past gym leaders throughout the series. Harvest sprites: The harvest sprites are characters who show up in past sos games that would help with farming or are important to the plot. Instead of harvest sprites, they can be replaced with legendary pokemon. Finding and befriending legendary pokemon can greatly improve your farming capabilities, but they extremely rare to find and they will require certain tasks be done or that you give them certain items before they are willing to help you. Story: The story will likely revolve around the legendary pokemon. I'm not the best at coming up with stories, but my idea is the weather trio fighting, causing unpredictable weather patterns. This makes it difficult for farmers across the region to properly produce crops. It is the job of the main character to ease tensions between kyogre and groudon with the help of rayquaza. This can have an impact on gameplay as well. In the sos games, you may be able to hear predictions for the next day's weather. In this new game, you won't be able to get weather predictions at all. But after the fighting stops, meteorologists will be able to accurately predict the weather for each upcoming week so you can plan out ahead of time. This will not only make it easier to know when you will need to water crops, but it will also prepare you for storms that could potentially destroy your crops. Art style: The gba art style is one of the most iconic in both sos (friends of mineral town) and pokemon. While I think an old school art style would work, I think it should he blended with a more modern art style as well. I like how doraemon sos looks. Take that art style, but change the doraemon characters to look like pokemon characters. It would have the charm of the older sos and pokemon games, but with a more unique and updated art style. This is all that comes to mind. I'd love to hear if you have anything you'd add or change. [link] [comments] |
Opinion: Pokèmon has always been an average at best JRPG series. Posted: 25 Jun 2020 08:16 PM PDT Like the title says, I've come to the personal realization that Pokèmon just isn't this great series that has fallen downhill in recent years: it's simply our nostalgia and memories making us see the earlier games in a different light. Sword and Shield, ultimately, is another average RPG, like the previous titles. There just isn't anything particularly great about any of the games, in my opinion. I still like most of them, and I still have fond memories, but it's kinda just hit me how painfully average the games really are in the RPG genre [link] [comments] |
Am I the only one that makes his teams based off of looks and aesthetics, then stats? Posted: 25 Jun 2020 09:03 PM PDT Ever since I was a kid, I always only chose pokemon based on looks and aesthetics. If the looked cool and were from the show, I wanted them. I never used moves for stat changes, only moves that do damage and looked cool (I'm looking at you draco meteor). Was it effective? More or less. Gen 4 team: Torterra - Oogway Gyrados - Jimbei Starraptor - Pell Garchomp - Kaido Snorlax - Fatgum Lucario - Sabo Gen 5 team: Serperior - Snakey Carracosta - Shuck Darmanitan - Krookodile - Mr.0 Golurk - Atlas Haxorus - Scopper Am I the only one that approached the games this way (like even to this day)? I think I'm just a simpleton that likes big and bulky types. I'm just a sap for it lol Edit: added my nicknames for all of them lol [link] [comments] |

Ash Ketchum is really a demigod like Hercules Posted: 26 Jun 2020 11:23 AM PDT Lugia, Unown, Groudon, Kyogre, Dialga, Palkia, Arceus, Solgaleo, Lunala and the whole world. He has saved legends and gods, protected and learned to use aura power. Ash has traveled in time and He is so supernaturally strong that he can carry 999.9 kg of Cosmoem with one hand. So what you think, is Ash a demigod or not? [link] [comments] |
