Posted: 18 Jul 2020 03:33 AM PDT So, I ran out of games to play during British "Lockdown" and decided to boot up Let's Go: Eevee, which I bought for my girlfriend for Christmas. And, very much to my surprise, I'm really enjoying it. Sure, it's easy, but despite being based on Gen 1 it feels so fresh. Not battling wild Pokémon and only catching them really shakes things up, and some of the new Pokémon placement is really nice (anybody else find a Chansey in Mt. Moon?). Is anybody else here a fan? I've been playing since Pokémon Silver and have always enjoyed new games, but it's been a while since I've felt that Pokémon has been fresh. What are your favourite things about the Let's Go Games? [link] [comments]
I thought Pokemon games had become too easy, until I watched a 7yo play Let's Go Pikachu. Posted: 18 Jul 2020 08:31 AM PDT My coworker asked for Switch recommendations as she was getting her 7yo a Switch for his birthday. I recommended a few games including Let's Go since he likes Pokemon. I've played it and it felt virtually impossible to fail, perfect for a kid. After his birthday he was in the office with his game, and my coworker said "Hey, OP likes Pokemon you can ask her nicely to help." I'd love to! Apparently this was his first Pokemon game and it seemed like the perfect fit. He's seen his family play Pokemon Go before. Oh man. It never occurred to me how much reading is required in Pokemon games. Every time characters talked he'd go UGH and spam A. After every level up of his Pokemon he'd go UGH and spam A until the text stopped. He'd ask me which moves to choose during battles, and I tried a little bit to teach him which of his moves actually did damage. But since I was there to help him he wasn't really making an effort to remember and kept asking. I learned that the biggest problem with spamming A without reading is that when your Pokemon is ready to learn a move, spamming A means you eventually replace the first move in the list every time with whatever is being learned. I managed to stop him a few times and try to show him what happening, but I did NOT save him from deleting Pikachu's thundershock! Well, that's ok... It also learns Double Kick- oh, you spammed B that time. Oh no. Somehow we got him past Brock but he is now eternally stuck in Mt Moon. The super nerd that battles you at the fossils has a Magnemite, and he had spammed away all his Pokemon's moves that weren't Normal type. Honestly, I'm not sure what even I would have done in that situation haha. The effort it would take to get something to defeat this trainer is FAR greater than what I think he'd be able to figure out. It was about this time he had to leave so I'm not sure if he ever got past it. I remember playing Pokemon at that age... and the games were so much harder yet we got through them. I guess I just didn't hate reading this much? It was pretty fascinating, and I sorta see a bit if justification behind the difficulty decrease. Just a short story I thought some people would find interesting! [link] [comments]
I miss REAL villainous teams ... My thoughts: Posted: 17 Jul 2020 08:33 PM PDT First we basically had the mafia. Then we had the mafia. Then we had people who wanted to flood or burn the earth. Then we had people who wanted to remake the world. The we had someone who wanted to control all the pokemon. Then we had someone who wanted to destroy the people and let it be reborn. ... Then we had thieves ... and now we have a fan club. What happened to the criminal organizations? What happened to our battles against grunts actually meaning something? For the next games, the creators need to focus on some character development (B2W2 was excellent at this). Maybe a former champion gone rogue. Maybe some mind controlled people (with a sinister leader) you met in previous games. Maybe some mechanic where you have to make multiple choices throughout the game and each decision triggers different scenarios - like how real life heroes have to make decisions and live with the consequences. If not villains, then some sort of creepy thing that happens when the player let's their Pokemon faint too much. Like if you put a certain mon into battle, and it faints more than 10 times (forcing you to be smart and switch out instead of just using them as battle tools), certain villains can steal your Pokemon and the only way you can get them back is through some sort of tasks. Idk! What are yall's thoughts on some ideas of what they could do? Naturally GF will not do anything this cool but it's fun to fantasize. [link] [comments]
Posted: 18 Jul 2020 02:07 AM PDT Rules: -Only one Pokémon per route but if you find the same Pokémon in two routes you have to find a different one/ no duplicates -Faint=death -No new moves until evolution or ™ -Blackout =restart game -Must name Pokémon -You can catch an extra Pokémon for hms but not for battle -You can catch a shiny but can't use it [link] [comments]

A new gimmick for the next pokemon game... Posted: 18 Jul 2020 08:19 AM PDT Megas were great, Z-moves were okay, G-max is meh... but hear me out on this outlandish idea. I know it will be controversial but this is my idea for the new gimmick: PLEASE GIVE US A CHOICE AT THE BEGINNING FOR HARD MODE OR EASY MODE. The story mode is just an inconvenience for me right now in the way of the post game online battling because it is so easy. I've been playing the "rom hack" Sacred Gold (basically heart gold but higher levels, more pokemon, much better ai etc) and I have a 10 pokemon party. 6 on hand and 4 in box because the game is not possible to beat (for me) using just 6 pokemon. It took me so many tries to get past Bugsy's scyther and I loved it. People who want the games to stay as it is now can choose the easy mode and the hard mode doesn't need anything, just higher level trainers, better AI on trainers (which has already been done in the battle towers), Gym Leaders using full teams and trainer pokemon being ev trained and with better ivs. I don't know about others but I have not enjoyed the story mode of a pokemon game since black2white2 and it's disappointing. Pokemon platinum was a hard game, not terribly hard but enjoyable but I am certain that the remakes will get an ORAS treatment and the game difficulty will be reduced significantly. That makes me sad. [link] [comments]
Does anyone else think druddigon is weird? Posted: 17 Jul 2020 07:30 PM PDT I mean, this dude is one of the strangest Pokémon I've ever seen. He's a dragon, literally just that. He doesn't look like a Pokémon, he looks like someone whose seen 10 Pokémon was told to draw a dragon Pokémon. And his original sprite, sooo incredibly clashy, he was definitely one of those lucky few who looked better in 3D. Now I don't want you to think of this as a rant, or hate. I actually think he's incredibly underrated and a very interesting Pokémon. I just also think he's one of the strangest things to come out of these games and yet no one ever talks about him for some reason. Anyway, I personally like to believe if he really existed and you looked at him with 3D glasses, he would pop out and look all 3D [link] [comments]

Talking about my experience with a snivy solo run (in early June) Posted: 18 Jul 2020 07:10 AM PDT Pokemon is an easy game and I see many people complain about that difficulty. People end up having to create challenges to add some difficulty to the game. There are various types of nuzlockes and also monotype playthroughs that look interesting. Only one thing stuck out to me: solo runs. After watching youtube channels like jrose and mah dry bread, I find it interesting to push certain pokemon to their limits. I chose my favourite pokemon: snivy in pokemon black and white. I left out the minimum battles rule and went in. I don't have a capture card so I couldn't record it sadly. This was also on a cartridge so I didnt have a speedup button. Keep in mind evolution was off the table. Here are the worst battles: Burgh: This battle sucked. It's fairly obvious seeing as he has bug types. I had to grind from trainers I skipped. His first pokemon is whirlipede. If he poisons or crits me while I set up, runs dead. I had to set up to plus 6 to one shot his last pokemon leavanny. Leavanny could destroy me after his other pokemon had weakened me so I had to set up. His dwebble got one shot by leaf blade. His leavanny was still a damage roll. After 15 attempts at level 29 I won. Things got easy after that as I got eviolite. Even skyla was a piece of cake. The next difficult battles were elite four. Even after I got all of the rare candies. Shantal: Cofagrigus and chandelure were a mess to deal with. Keep in mind that my only attacks were leaf blade and aerial ace. I had to use a rawest berry to up my chances of not getting burnt by Cofagrigus will o wisp while setting up to one shot chandelure. After I have to hope jellicent doesn't activate cursed body so i can also one shot golurk with leaf blade. This took 25 attempts. Ghetsis: The final battle was one of the most difficult. First was another Cofagrigus. If it hit toxic, I lost. I ran pecha berry and set up coils. I had to hope hydreigon missed fire blast and then I would sweep. It took 20 tries. As brutal as this sounds some other battles were also really easy. Even N was easy! I literally video called my friend and said "watch me set up to plus 6 on a zekrom and sweep his team". I didn't actually expect it to work. Overall this was actually really fun and helped me kill some time before swsh dlc. I would suggest this to anyone who wants a challenge or just something to do. I'll get a picture of the snivy soon if you all request it. I traded it over to pokemon white and it's at home rn. I hope this inspires you to try a solo run. [link] [comments]
Should I get Ultra Sun if I've already played Moon? Posted: 18 Jul 2020 09:27 AM PDT I've been wanting to play a new game, but I don't have a Switch so Ultra Sun is as new as I can get. I kinda want to get it, but I'm not sure if it would be different enough from Moon to play with it feeling like a replay. I'm just wondering if there is a different enough stories and features for it to feel like a new game. What do those of you that have played both SM and USUM think? [link] [comments]
Posted: 17 Jul 2020 05:40 PM PDT Ever since the releases of Pokemon X and Y, I feel as if pokemon has been pandering to a younger and younger audience. Yes I understand this is their target audience, however with things such as the Pokemon VGC, they should expand their demographic similar to how other games this system have changed. Making the games easier and more accessible to their younger audience such as with the Exp Share covering all of your party, and linear gameplay, is pushing away their older audiences that still play the game today. Their excuse for this kind of behavior is that games should be easier for kids. Well, we were kids at one point also, playing a lot of the first games, getting frustrated and confused, but ended up feeling a sense of accomplishment when it was over with, like we did something on our own. Now the games are very hand holding and forgiving, taking you through town after town, not being able to have the choice between one gym or the other, and being blocked off in nearly every town. It makes the experience overall very dull to play through at times. Another thing is that the story of the games have also become far less engaging through the years, and I say that Sword and Shield is the least engaging Pokemon game I have ever played. It has the most basic story to it, which only starts to unfold towards the end, where people will be burnt out by the repetitive battles of the game that lack challenge. Back in Diamond, Pearl, Platinum, Black, and White, we were shown some of the greatest villains the series has ever had, with the story beginning to unfold slowly at the very beginning of the games. I will admit, Sun and Moon were a good shake up of the villain formula, with the seemingly good guys being the bad guy, and the "bad guys" just being punks. And then they repeated this formula in Sword and Shield, not to mention the terrible execution of explaining Eternatus, leaving many more questions than answers. How did Rose find Eternatus? What were Rose's motives behind wanting to help with something thousands of years away? I will admit the cinematic cutscenes look great, which brings me into the next part of why I think the game lacks personality. The animations. They lack emotion in the Pokemon themselves, I will say that Scorbunny's and Ludicolo's idle animations are some of the best in the game. But the Pokemon that just stand there and wiggle a bit, feel so dead, like nobody felt enough care to give these amazing designs life. Not to mention the attack animations are one of two things, a slight movement of the model, or a particle effect, with the exceptions of signature moves which look amazing, but it just goes to show how much better they could do with the characters they've created for a billion dollar franchise. I'm not saying that I don't mind the old models being used, and I'm also not saying there has to be an animation for every move in the game, maybe just a few separate ones for physical and special, not even every Pokemon has to be in the game (For me at least), it's just more of how the Pokemon we have in the game are given life in the game is what I care about. But the environments in the normal Wild Area of Sword and Shield are not the greatest I've ever seen. Especially after there's games like Odyssey and Breath of the Wild on the Switch, I can't help but feel disappointment in the lighting, environment, and culling in the game. Things can be really close and still won't show up until you're too close to notice, The lighting of the game is really flat and doesn't do much special with it, with a few exceptions, and the environments feel very blocky with low detail textures that don't look right on a console as powerful as the Switch. Not to mention we have now seen what Pokemon could potentially be in New Pokemon Snap, where the lighting breathes so much new life into the models. I think that the worst part of all of this is that Pokemon ignore their older fans on what they could do better and it hurts their brand as they keep going. They might listen to criticisms of one game, yea, but they either take it far out of proportion, or they take it out the next game.It feels like we're seeing the worst years of this franchise, where they're in a loop. The franchise should be taking its own premise, and should evolve as a franchise for better games in the future. [link] [comments]
How do you feel about Chesnaught? Posted: 18 Jul 2020 06:56 AM PDT Maybe I'm wrong on this, but when I see people talk about starters, I don't see this one discussed much. Maybe I'm wrong. Maybe it is talked about less and that's because most people aren't very big on X/Y. Maybe it's because Greninja is just so popular and people feel so mixed on Delphox (because people love Braixen so much) that those two overshadow Chesnaught when it comes to talking about Gen 6 starters. Maybe it's because Quilladin is possibly one of the least liked stages of a starter. I think all of the fully evolved grass starters have been either great or awesome designs and that includes Chesnaught. When it comes to the more humanoid turn starters have embraced since Gen 6, I think Chesnaught is the least discussed one and is also the most underrated one [link] [comments]
Can you Counter the Counter, just like in the Pokemon Sun and Moon Anime? Posted: 18 Jul 2020 06:09 AM PDT It's been a while since this episode has released and I always wondered if you can actually counter the counter in a pokemon game. And after some trials, I finally found a way to counter the counter in doubles! Pokemon You Need: You and your oppenent should have one Oranguru which knows Instruct and protect, and lastly you and your oppenent needs a pokemon which is both faster then Oranguru and can learn Counter and another attacking move. How to do it? In the first turn; use Protect on Oranguru and, use an attacking move and Counter on your other pokemon. In the second turn; use instruct on Oranguru and, use Counter on others. Here is a video that I've made about this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G8IYKAAHEXc&feature=youtu.be [link] [comments]
If you were champion, what would your team be? Posted: 17 Jul 2020 08:55 PM PDT I think this is super fun to think about, and my answer changes from time to time, because we all find new favorites as time goes on. So, this is just for fun. If I was a champion, my team would consist of: Alolan Raichu (lead Pokemon) - Has Fake Out to always guarantee you flinch, and has the Static ability. It also holds a focus sash (making it one of three Pokemon to have a held item) to prevent it from being taken down in one hit. It's fast and decently strong, so it will almost always get 2 hits in before it goes down. Its other moves include Thunderbolt, Psychic, and Signal Beam. Staraptor - with the ability Intimidate. Staraptor is already fast and strong, so lowering your potential physical attacker will make it even more difficult to take down. Moves like Brave Bird, Close Combat, U-Turn and Return will ensure that any Pokemon will take massive damage. Arcanine - Arcanine is just a well rounded Pokemon. It has good bulk, hits hard, and has decent speed. It has moves like Wild Charge, Heat Wave, and Extreme Speed, which are all very powerful. But, it also has Morning Sun. Staraptor already has Intimidate, so we'll go with Flash Fire. Heracross - Everyone knows how big of a threat this thing is. Heracross is the second Pokemon to have a held item, which is the Choice Scarf. As if this super strong Pokemon wasn't threatening enough, it also has the Moxie ability. If you're not prepared, this will sweep your team. It has Megahorn, Close Combat, Stone Edge, and Earthquake (because I think it gets it? If not then it gets some other powerful move, you get the idea). I like having Levitate as its ability. I don't even know if it has another one hahaha! Hydreigon - anyone who is plays competitive (or has played Gen 5) knows how scary this thing is. Hydreigon is fast, powerful, and is definitely not frail. It has Dragon Pulse, Dark Pulse, Fire Blast, and Earth Power. Be careful when facing this one. Samurott (Ace Pokemon) - Samurott's line is my all time favorite Pokemon, so it's only natural it would be my ace. This baby has Swords Dance, Aqua Jet, Razor Shell, and Megahorn. While it's not fast, it is powerful with decent bulk. If it survives a hit with 33% of its health or less, then an Aqua Jet or Razor Shell will be severely punishing. Especially if it has a Swords Dance off. Samurott's item would be an Aguav Berry for extra longevity. I was originally thinking of having an Oshawott with Eviolite, so if you want to imagine that then there ya go :P This was super fun to make! If you guys have an idea for your hypothetical champion team...let me know! I love reading about that stuff :) EDIT: It was pointed out to me that Alolan Alolan Raichu does not have Static as an ability. I love both forms of Raichu equally, so I get the two mixed up sometimes hahaha. So it's ability would be Lightning Surge (I believe that's what it's called?) Or you could replace it with Luxray. I like Luxray just a tad more... Actually, yeah - Luxray is a part of the team. Raichu just barely misses out though! [link] [comments]
Posted: 18 Jul 2020 11:26 AM PDT In the early 2000s the official popsicle company had a partner with pokemon. They made 6 popsicles of Gengar,Pikachu,Squirtle,Meowth and Charmander. We currently have pictures of Gengar and Pikachu. If you know anything about this please share. Any info even a little bit will help. If you want to partake in the mystery and are dedicated driving around and seeing any icecream trucks will also help alot. From r/lostmedia [link] [comments]

Who are some rivals from the anime you want to return? Posted: 18 Jul 2020 06:29 AM PDT I personally want sawyer from kalos to come back. I really liked how he was a rival that broke the stereotype that if he's strong he's a douche and if he's nice he's extremely weak. I feel like he won't come back considering his ace is a mega sceptile and I'm not sure if they'll bring me gas into the anime because of dynamax but my hopes are up. [link] [comments]
Posted: 18 Jul 2020 12:19 PM PDT The entire game was amazing. I remember playing it and the first Stadium for hours and hours. But Snap just had this great hands-on approach to being around Pokémon and it had an amazing soundtrack. I even covered the song from the Valley level (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AAct5LRW00Q) and really can't wait for the new Snap. [link] [comments] |
