This week's Pokemon is Grapploct!

#853 Grapploct (Japanese オトスパス Otosupus)

Jujitsu Pokémon

A body made up of nothing but muscle makes the grappling moves this Pokémon performs with its tentacles tremendously powerful. Searching for an opponent to test its skills against, it emerges onto land. Once the battle is over, it returns to the sea.

Grapploct's Base Stats:

HP: 80
Attack: 118
Defense: 90
Sp. Attack: 70
Sp. Defense: 80
Speed: 42

Introduction:

Grapploct is a Pokémon that has to push itself to utilize its coverage due to its singular Fighting Type. In addition, it barely takes advantage of its ability Technician with its limited movepool. It already has mediocre bulk and abysmal speed, meaning its set options have dwindled out, forcing it to run Drain Punch as a form of recovery, as well as Bulk Up to bolster its offensive presence while also trying to take advantage of its higher physical defense. In terms of its ability, Grapploct tends to only run Circle Throw, or rarely Brutal Swing if it wants to use that amazing boost from Technician. Otherwise, this Pokémon doesn't have much else going for it. Grapploct has the potential to be utilized on a Trick Room team, or even become a more potent wallbreaker if given more tools to stand out.
