Welcome to this week's edition of Rebuild Tuesday, a weekly event we're doing along with our Discord!

This week's Pokemon is Claydol!

#344 Claydol (Japanese ネンドール Nendoll)

Clay Doll Pokémon

This mysterious Pokémon started life as an ancient clay figurine made over 20,000 years ago. It appears to have been born from clay dolls made by ancient people. It uses telekinesis to float and move.

Claydol's Base Stats:

HP: 60
Attack: 70
Defense: 105
Sp. Attack: 70
Sp. Defense: 120
Speed: 75

Introduction:

Claydol gets access to both Stealth Rock and Rapid Spin which is already a great combo. It also has the defensive typing of Ground/Psychic which allows it to resist incoming damage from Stealth Rock. Along with this, all other hazards are useless against Claydol due to its ability Levitate, which has the added bonus of giving it a Ground immunity. Claydol fortunately comes with respectable defensive stats which allows it to takes some hits throughout the game. However, a huge problem with Claydol lies in its low HP stat coupled with a lack of recovery moves which prevents it from staying in the battle for very long. It also lacks offensive presence, meaning it can't threaten the opposing team as well as other Pokémon that do similar things. Claydol needs something more to stand out against other Pokémon that utilize Rapid Spin that pose as a threat to most opposing teams.

How viable do you trainers think Claydol is? Is there anything else you think it needs in order to be a good competitive Pokémon (e.g. new moves, stats, abilities or typings)? What is its most optimal set?
